@Davis Clarke impressive marathon….. here is why some runners poop their pants… So why does this happen? A few reasons: Sometimes, runners experience gastrointestinal - Nerves/Anxiety (especially pre-race) - dehydration (especially post race) - the physical jostling of the body - sympathetic nervous system shifting blood to muscles rather than splanchnic system - decrease control of anal sphincter This is a very common occurrence with not a ton of research on it although there are a few papers!
