This study hack is a procrastinator’s dream! ✅📚💯🏆 Read below ⬇️ - THE TRAFFIC LIGHT SYSTEM🚦: 
1️⃣ Print out a copy of your syllabus/learning guide .
2️⃣ Go through each dot point & colour code them based on your understanding: 🔴 Red - what you have NO idea about 🟠 Orange - what you are OK with, but need more work on 🟢 Green - what you know WELL, and don’t need to revise further . 3️⃣ Focus on the Red topics first, then the Orange topics, until you can make them ALL green!! This method helps you prioritise what you need to study most, helping you get marks in the areas you would have otherwise lost them instead of going through things chronologically and wasting time revising concepts you know well & don’t really need to cover again. ✨ PS: just to be clear, I never advise to leave exam revision until the night before. But as a student, I’ve definitely been there a few times (especially when life gets out of control)! The question every student is asking 😭🥱 - THE MISTAKES & HOW TO SOLVE THEM: 1️⃣ You study in your room - your brain associates your bedroom with sleep & relaxation, and therefore when you study in your room (especially in your bed), it’ll signal to your body that it’s time to rest, making it extremely hard to study. 😩 . Plus, studying in bed makes it hard to set up appropriately for effective work (eg there’s no solid surface to write on, leaning over will lead to poor posture & back pain etc) 🫣 ✅ Solution? ✅ Have a designated area in the house that is solely for studying 🏡. If you don’t have the luxury of a study room, try to set up a desk in the lounge or dining room & use noise cancelling headphones OR go to a local library/cafe. . 2️⃣ You study 1 subject each time - if studying the same subject over a long period of time, it can get quite tedious, wear you out, and cause you to lose focus. It might also cause you to get the concepts muddled up with each other 😭 ✅ Solution? ✅ Use Interleaving 📆 Instead of studying one subject for the entire study session, switch between multple non-related subjects. For example, instead of 3 hours of Math, try 1 hour of Math, 1 hour of English, and 1 hour of Chemistry. Interleaving improves retention of information & exam performance (without need to study any longer). It is thought to do so because it helps you differentiate between what you learnt for each subject. . 3️⃣ You’re using passive study techniques 🧠 - passive techniques do not require much brain power or concentration As a result, you’re more likely to get distracted, to drift off, and shut your mind off. Examples include: 🧠 Active Recall (e.g. Flashcards, Blurting, Application Questions) 🧠 Mind-Maps & Drawing Diagrams 🧠 Teaching The Material to Others 🧠 Loci Method 🧠 Practice Exams . 2️⃣ Plan Your Study Sessions - by planning your study sessions out before you start, you will be able to prioritise what needs to be done, stay on track, and even get additional benefits without more time studying! . To make sure your study session is the best it can be: ⏰ Use time-blocking (allocate a set amount of time for each activity, to create a sense of urgency. Trust me, I’ve been there too. Here’s what has worked super well for me! 📲💯📚✅ - THE METHODS: 1️⃣ Study Timelapses - Film a timelapse of yourself whilst you study. This will give you that “main character” moment, and motivate you to work hard, stay focused and avoid distractions because you’re on camera!! Plus, you can’t use your phone as you’ll have to stop the Timelapse to do so. . You can also upload the timelapse onto a (private) IG or TikTok page so you have a collection of all your hard work 🤳 . 2️⃣ Body Doubling - go to a crowded place, such as a library or cafe, and work around other people who are being productive. This provides an external source of motivation that will keep you off your phone, FOCUSED, PRODUCTIVE and EFFICIENT 👯 . 3️⃣ Focus Apps - these are apps that prevents you from using your phone (e.g. Forest, App Limits in iOS settings, Cold Turkey). They all work in mostly the same way: block you from using certain apps like games or social media for a chosen period of time 📵 . 4️⃣ Screen Time Schedule - this may sound counterintuitive, but if you schedule times to use your phone throughout your study session, it can actually help you stay disciplined!
