My nervous laughing. Anywhooo stuff has been so wild with my cycles. Im starting to have them like every 17-19 days and/or have spotting. Theres a few tests I'm having to go through, one being checking if im pre menopausal, then i'll be getting an ultrasound to rule out fibroids or polyps. Hypermobility often refers to genetic differences in a person's connective tissue. It does not refer to flexibility, although increased flexibility can be a symptom of connective tissue hypermobility. There are some very flexible people on Instagram, such as @movementbydavid and @hildersonjoachim. Both of these individuals mention that they have had to put in YEARS of work to achieve their flexibility. Meanwhile, there are some individuals who have always been able to drop into the splits or put their arms behind their heads without ever having to formally train those movements. However, people who are naturally "flexible" often experience lots of joint pain. People with hypermobile connective tissue disorders will usually present with more than just musculoskeletal issues - like cardiovascular issues, immune response issues (MCAS), dysautonomia, POTS, skin issues, eye and teeth problems, and the list goes on. Individuals with connective tissue disorders will benefit from lifestyle adjustments: exercise, eating a whole food diet, drinking plenty of water, improving sleep, reducing stress, and moving more throughout the day. This is true of pretty much everyone, actually. We teach people to do this through our Hypermobility program (link in bio). Disclaimer: you can be super flexible in one joint because of an injury or sport. For instance, baseball pitchers can have a VERY flexible shoulder, and someone who has severely sprained their ankle in the past may have a VERY flexible ankle as a result of lengthened ligaments. It’s been a minute since I posted anything about Dan’s chronic nerve pain. For those that are new here, on top of his paralysis, Dan has a condition called Adhesive Arachnoiditis. On a scale from 1-10, his pain never goes below a 2/3 even with all of his medications onboard and most of the time it is higher. I will never understand how he pushes through it to be here for us all… I don’t know if I could do it. I guess when we are faced with hard things we don’t have many choices. I think the hardest thing is the not knowing. Doctors baffled at my medical files as to why this happened to me. Where do we start?⬇️⬇️ Social media has been a powerful tool to learn tips and tricks here and there, or maybe even life changing pieces of information that you never would have known before. My job as a physical therapist and content creator is to get you as independent as possible from your orthopedic medical needs, as opposed to reliant on a system that seems broken half the time. The exercises I’m demonstrating in this video are all #thoracicmobilty exercises that are meant to improve low back pain👉Something that I dealt with in the past which was a low back disc herniation (2 different levels) 👉taught me a lot about the resiliency of the human body. How amazing it is that movement does heal the body, and is much more effective than any NSAIDs, muscle relaxants and pain killers combined. In clinic, I’ve recently had an influx of patients dealing with issues where the chronicity of their conditions have brought them to a place of accepting their pain as “just what it is” chalking it all up to “old age” almost with a negative, cynical outlook on their prognosis. I want to remind everyone that there is a solution out there for you. It might take time, you might need to find the right person to help guide you, but pain is not an inevitable part of aging. You can live pain-free. You deserve to live pain-free. Discuss with your Doctor the risks/benefits of taking medications long term for your chronic pain. There is a place for low dose opioid medication when other therapies have failed. 4 years ago to this month i was given a feeding tube due to a condition called gastroparesis, meaning a paralyzed stomach.
