Round 2! growing lotus seeds 🪷 I keep seeing those “bowl lotus” videos where they just throw them in a bowl and they grow pretty flowers. The videos look so unrealistic so here I am to try them out 🤪 I started with 4 seeds to test, 2 grew. For the past 5 days ive been changing out the water every morning. So here we are today! Could’ve gone bigger tbh ✏️TIPS ⬇️ So here I went from a 6” to a 8” pot. Monstera have aggressive roots so I probably could have gone to a 10” just fine, especially with my quick draining @solsoils soil (discount code H+P). I don’t untangle/tease/mess with the roots in any way. They’ll work their way into the new soil just fine. When you touch and move roots you’re damaging hair roots you can’t even see, causing unnecessary (imo) damage that can cause some plants to have a hard time recovering. I use foliage pro because it’s the best houseplant fertilizer 👌🏻 The fungus gnat drops are a game changer. If you’re currently using mosquito bits or dunks switch to this because it’s the same thing just WAY EASIER and can be used with all other amendments, like I show in this video. I’ve been growing the monstera deliciosa for over 5 years 🥲 Unfortunately it’s just too large for my space now so I decided to take a cutting to keep & sell the main plant. It was a difficult decision. Lots of love, time & care went into growing a plant this large. I feel so happy though knowing it’s a large healthy plant that someone else will be able to enjoy for years to come. 💚 This grew in a south window its entire life. I use foliage pro fertilizer on all my plants, and it has been in my DIY mix of equal parts fox farm ocean forest, perlite and orchid bark for its whole time with me as well. Too much light can be bad ⬇️: If you are an indoor houseplant grower, your plant is used to light from behind a window, shade, curtains, etc. so if you’re planing on bringing them outside for the warmer months keep those babies in the shade. Whether it be with a shade cloth or under a covered porch, keeping in shade will allow your plants to still grow nice and lush without the risk of leaf burn. If you do want to increase light (I bring my cactus to direct sunlight gradually in the spring and summer), do it a few at a time. I start in shade for a few weeks and then work its tolerance up to full sun a little at a time. Unfortunately there’s nothing you can do once your leaves burn and get scorched so please take that into consideration before you decide to bring your plant baby out. And remember, those plants living outside will dry out faster due to increase in light and airflow, so you’ll be watering more often! My tiny umbrella has a suction cup is used as an outdoor phone sun blocker but it was too cute to not use for my plants. #houseplants #plantcare

Propagate pilea peperomioides ⬇️ These are SO EASY to propagate. In the first example you’ll see there are already roots, so we’re basically just transplanting vs propagating but you get the idea 😉 Be sure to cut below the soil line to get some roots. The babies form off the main stem of the mother plant under the soil and emerge to become another plant. There’s no need to let the cutting callus over in either situation. DO fertilize both. They’ll grow so quick! Bright light is key, as always - for a successful propagation. For the second way - top cutting - roots will form all along the stem. You can absolutely root in water and even keep it in water or perlite indefinitely. These are great plants to grow hydroponically or in semi hydro like leca, pon, perlite etc. This is a variegated pilea peperomioides if you thought it looked a little different 🤗 I love it and it’s growing like a weed now that I have it under a 10w sansi bulb. These prefer 1000fc daily average for optimal growth so if your pilea is looking a little pale/leggy/droopy try adding a grow light or getting it in a bright south facing window. She has been in this pot since 2020 and Snake plants typically need to be repotted every 2-3 years 👀 One sign that it is time for a repot is the plant is top-heavy and prone to tipping over 🫨 Youll need! 🪴A new pot with drainage! (Atleast 2 inches larger than the current one) 🤎Fresh, well-draining potting mix (i use a cacti mix) 🥄spade Squeeze the plant out and size up two inches!
