Meet Her Majesty the Queen - custom gown co-created with @millanova’s team. It required 350 hours (40 days) to craft and 12 people to be involved in the production. She was the only thing gifted / collaborated on on our wedding day because I simply couldn’t do it alone. Her Majesty took 70 meters of taffeta and approximately 30 meters of additional fabrics to sew this singular design weighing 14 kilograms and measuring 4 meters in length. WOW! 🤯 All brides know there is an insane pressure in picking your wedding dress. While other dresses were making me feel elegant, were ‘high fashion’ or were following some sort of current trend - I kept asking myself: WHAT WOULD MY INNER CHILD (6 YEAR OLD AGGIE) WANT TO WEAR? I wanted to honor the child-like wonder inside of me, the little Aggie who watched Disney and … of course she just wanted to wear a big dress on the day she was marrying her king. The problem was I couldn’t find one I really liked! I found that most ‘princess’ dresses were making me feel heavy, cumbersome and old. Until Her Majesty the Queen was dreamed, drawn up and carefully created. She’s everything. Sweet, youthful, light. But also elegant, royal and powerful. Dang, she took up space. I wanted to step into my power and take up space on my wedding day in a world that always tells women are too much! This dress says: No, I don’t care what you think of me, my dress or how *you* would do things differently at your wedding. Because - this isn’t your wedding. It’s mine and Jacob’s and we make the rules on what WORKS FOR US. Side note: a bigger dress worked really well for the wedding venue we were at - you will see soon! (details coming soon). I wanted to honor my Central European heritage, and wanted my mom, dad and sister to be able to attend all the fittings for my dress. I knew I wanted to work with Milla Nova, a Ukrainian designer, that has their flagship store in Warsaw where I was born and raised. Seeing you at the end of the aisle was hands down the best moment of my life. No exaggeration. Aggie: I didn’t expect it to be. In fact, I would unconsciously judge other women for being ‘too emotional’ when I saw them cry at weddings. I noticed that over time I have ‘hardened’ by life. My coping mechanism was to freeze and not to feel at all. So of course I thought of them being too much. It took years of working with our celebrant @psychotransmutation to soften into my feminine, connect with my emotions that have been repressed for years (especially the not-so-nice ones like sadness and anger) and finally FEEL IT ALL. And I’m not nowhere near done with the process. I said I was worried I won’t be able to be out of my head on the wedding day. I just wanted to be in my body, not in my head, and welcome whatever arrises, but I might be stuck in the ‘Aggie the producer’ mode I have been on for this wedding. Little did I know, that seeing Jacob at the end of the aisle that we sketched, dreamed and created would make me almost pass out from OVERWHELM of all feelings. Mostly awe. So much awe. Joy. Bliss. Love. Presence. Sense of accomplishment. Oneness with our family and friends. I didn’t think I could take another step. Maybe this moment is ‘too emotional’ for some, but I would rather be ‘too emotional’ than numb. I wasted too many years suppressing myself. And my humanness. Ain’t nobody shaming me back to that freeze / fawn coping mechanism. Jacob: My emotions were at an all time high, my heart pounding in my chest and the energy surrounding us more powerful than I’d ever felt before. As I turned around, seeing the woman I had spent the last 7 years dreaming of marrying, I broke — there was no holding back the tears at this point.
