Design my wheelchair with me 🫶🏼 ✨How have I afforded it? • Thanks to my incredible family at @lululemon ❤️ Lulu are contributing towards it and I couldn’t be more grateful! This will give me so much independence when I cannot walk or/and when I’m in pain 🥹 no words can express the gratitude! When I’ve not had the wheelchair in the past, I’ve struggled a lot (physically and mentally) so to know I’ll have more independence when I cannot walk, it’s life changing and will massively improve my quality of life 😭 ✨Why do I need a wheelchair if I have a prosthetic leg? • When wearing my prosthetic leg too much, my leg can throb extremely and be super painful. There will be some days I want to use a chair over my prosthetic. • My prosthetic causes cuts on my amputated leg sometimes from my prosthetic so I cannot wear it and I need to give my leg time to heal. • Last year I didn’t walk for three months in total. I didn’t have a wheelchair at the time and I was using crutches to go everywhere and I really struggled with independence which impacted my mental health. • I’m a crazy gal that wants to take on big physical challenges so I will need my wheelchair even more. • Life as an amputee is never linear 🤍 ✨Why not use an NHS wheelchair? • I have done previously but the ones I’ve tried haven’t been great for my independence. • They’re big and bulky which isn’t great for travelling and getting into a car (especially if you’re putting it in the car by yourself) • They’re heavy which makes it hard to manoveure and push yourself • The wheel positioning makes it hard to push yourself along and it’s more for others to push you instead. The set up is different on the chairs in this video! Wheelchair I chose: Quickie Xenon 2 Wheelchair place: Lifestyle & Mobility *worth noting, if you’re getting a wheelchair, make sure that it’s made in the same country as you otherwise you might struggle getting replacement parts as and when you need them* I’ve not shown amputee content like this in a hot minute, would you like to see more of this stuff and what prosthetics I have?
