The Incredible Bond of Elephant Familie Today, Chana is wandering in the meadow while her family and nanny have all left for dinner at the Shelter. Chana spends nearly an hour walking the fields alone. She has disappeared from their view for too long, so the nanny, like Kabu, begins to worry and calls out for her loudly and continuously. This causes the other elephants to start panicking. Everyone begins making noises together to find Chana. Mintra and NamThip’s Tender Connection Today, we introduced Mintra to NamThip, and it was a truly tender moment. Mintra approached NamThip with such gentleness, using her trunk to delicately touch NamThip's short tail, while NamThip reciprocated the curiosity, showing interest in Mintra's beautiful tail. However, what truly touched our hearts was NamThip's response to Mintra's love and affection. She let out soft moans and seemed to chatter incessantly, at times displaying signs of nervousness and uncertainty, likely stemming from never having been with her own mother or other elephants since infancy. NamThip struggled to articulate her overwhelming emotions, but she found solace in conversing with Mintra for a long time. Though none of us can decipher their communication, it's evident that Mintra understands NamThip's language the best. We hope that through these exchanges, NamThip can find a safe space to release her pent-up frustrations and painful past to someone who listens and empathizes. With Mintra's nurturing presence, we anticipate that NamThip's wounded heart will begin to heal. Following the rescue of 30 pigs who were destined for slaughter, our founder immediately sprang into action to comfort the pigs and let them know they were safe with us. Namthip and Mintra Update from our founder Saengduean Lek Chailert Just over a month of being at ENP, Namthip has changed a lot. She’s more gentle and sleeps at normal times. Observing her behavior in the evening when the mahout is not around, we still see occasional signs of stress, such as occasional shaking of the head. However, during the day, we set up a play area for her so that Namthip could exercise and play. With the help of Mintra, who takes care of her and stands there to watch over and comfort her, we see improvements in building confidence and making Namthip feel more secure. Namthip really enjoys mud baths; the mud makes her skin cooler and firmer. Today, she visited Chana's herd, who were relaxing on the opposite riverbank.
