Women are vastly different than men and so we need vastly different things!! Are we surprised?! Just one of the many examples of why we shouldn’t expect to do the things men do and be okay! Or blindly follow science and ‘the studies’ because a lot of the studies aren’t for us. It’s been shown men actually use more of their brains in a consistent basis (mostly from multitasking) and therefore we need more sleep to recover. We also have a different circadian rhythm than men - our melatonin secretion starts earlier than men to go to bed earlier. We also have an infradian rhythm which is our 28 day hormone cycle (our menstrual cycle) and so we need different amounts of sleep at different parts of our cycle to support hormone production and recovery. It’s now recommended an average of 9 hours for women with an extra hour during our period!
