01:00:00 🖤As some of you might have already seen in my stories or already guessed yourselves, this concept of counting the seconds, as an art form, it’s directly inspired by the Netflix adaptation “The 3 body problem”. One important difference is, my seconds go up, not down, like in the tv show. To quote my own IG story, because for the moment I lack better words: “Since I can remember I was fascinated with time and space, numbers in relation with time. … I have never been more present in the present than now. I’m always somewhere in between past and future, but I’m in “NOW” when I’m counting seconds.” After I saw this tv show and had the idea of counting up the seconds as concept art, after I did a minimal research and found artists like Roman Opalka, On Kawara and Hanne Darboven, I strongly believe that I have found my purpose as an artist. To give a shape that is making sense to me, to space and time. The paper is my space, and the numbers/seconds written down is my time. The main plan is to count up the seconds, write every single one of them on paper, for as long as I can, even if it takes me the rest of my life. Without to put pressure on myself, I want to count up on paper all the seconds existent in one year. That is 31.556.926 seconds. I have made a rough calculation and this can take me anywhere between 50 and 60 years to finish, and more than 10.000 28x38cm paper pieces! Yup, you read that right, there is no typos. 31.556.926 seconds. Between 50 and 60 years to finish. More than 10.000 pieces, with 28x38cm paper pieces. I will still continue to draw from time to time my lovely circles, lines and stippling, so I can make a living and to fund this life lasting project, but they won’t be anymore my focus. And there are still so many things to figure out, especially the storage of all these pieces, how to preserve them the best over the time. I am perfectly aware of how incredibly crazy and enormous this sounds, but I will do my absolute best and beyond, to achieve as much as possible with this project. And I hope with all my heart that the majority of you will choose to be by my side on this journey.#conceptart #contemporaryart
