Before you come at me in the comments, let me make it clear what I mean. I'm not coming after anyone's preferred style of polyamory. I'm non-hierarchical, but I believe hierarchy can be valid. I have different boundaries than my polyamorous friends, and that's totally okay. Open relationships, swinging, solo poly, mono/poly dynamics, I cheer on the success of them all. Here's what I'm talking about: Coerced consent is not consent. Constantly ignoring boundaries with no sign of stopping is not okay. Poly does not mean putting up with partners' trash behavior. Lying is bad. Really, really bad. There are plenty of instances where everyone verbally consents, but people are still mistreated to wild levels. You do not have to tolerate mistreatment in order to be a "good" polyamorist.

I've seen this article posted so much in the last week or so. I'll be making a separate video for the article itself, which is unsurprisingly quite different than the headline, but also pretty silly. It really seems like this writer doesn't know a single polyamorous person. The article begins to bring up good points about privilege, but then awkwardly tries to paint a picture that all polyamorous people people enjoy all these privileges. As if it's just some hobby bred from bored affluence. If this person did more than surface level research they'd know that's not the case. But it seems they read a memoir about one person and lurked on a few Reddit threads, and used that to draw sweeping conclusions.
