Apparently, saying “children are not a burden” is controversial now?! 😅 On a recent episode of #AdultingWithJoycePring, a listener asked us our thoughts on DINKS (double income, no kids). We gave our personal take on this as relatively young adults who got married and had two children before we turned 30. I gave a short message by the end of the episode to all the women who have a DESIRE to have children but think their careers would be ‘ruined’ over motherhood. Operative words: If YOU are a woman who already HAS a desire to have children… 👶🏻 My encouragement was that of a woman who did have a career, who got married at 26, got pregnant at 27 and then again at 28, who was constantly afraid that my life will be ruined (because thats what A LOT of people said would happen—) I’m here to tell you they were wrong, and life just got more purposeful and filled with joy when my two children came. 🤱🏽 By no means am I saying that motherhood will fulfill you, only God can do that. I also never said that ALL women should be mothers. If you don’t want kids, God bless you on your journey as well. 🤍 But for young women who DO want to get married and have kids, I want you to know, you will not ‘lose’ anything - at least not anything that could be more important than bringing life and raising the next generation. Motherhood is a beautiful calling — one that requires healing, hard work, sleepless years, and so much more. But it’s truly worth it. Our children are the biggest blessings we have ever received. 💕 And finally, don’t be led by fear. Find a support system, ask God for healing, aim to be 1% better everyday. There isn’t one single life experience that will change you drastically — it’s the small, compounded decisions and experiences we have everyday, kids or no kids. A day in our life (staycation edition) 😌 Our family thrives on routine. We wake up, eat, play, and sleep pretty much the same time every single day. Now, you might think this is boring, but what we've been learning is this: when we have structure, we have more space to be spontaneous. 📌 We've been able to relax more, play more, dream more, and be more spontaneous since we started taking routines seriously. We also see that our babies are in better moods when they stick to their routine. There’s just something about knowing what you can expect throughout the day that calms our nervous system. And yes, even on vacation! 💕 We love doing staycations because there’s always so much to do in the hotel — from the great food selection at the buffet, the amenities and being in the center of the city — we always enjoy our stay. From a single heartbeat… to one full year with our princess. 🤍 One full year as a family of four. One full year of life in technicolor (doubled 😆). In one year, we were able to go to the beach, visit different countries, explore our own home, and go on adventures with you. In one year, we saw you grow into a little toddler who loves to dance, play, swim, listen to music, eat solids, dress up in pretty clothes, and explore new things.
