It got rocky after this Banana and I have been hanging out at this same spot of beach for a long time and I also surf there quite a bit. Never before had I known this spot to have SO MANY rocks though. so, when Necia and I arrived, I just HAD TO take a pic and send it to banana. How I edit videos blind will blow your mind! People have been asking me for years how I edit my videos if I’m blind but the answer is just so weird, involved and complicated that I couldn’t just squish it into a little comment. To start….no I can’t see the video but I do film pretty much everything by myself. from there, it’s really just telling a story. If you watch any of the thousand-plus videos I’ve ever posted, you’ll note that there is NEVER more than a second or 2 without a voice doing some sort of talking. The reason behind that should be pretty obvious now. if no one is talking, I can’t really imagine what is on the screen…..so someone always has to be talking in order for me to assemble a story. When I’m not the one shooting the video, I will of course need guidance and help as to what is happening but the process is still the same. I’m telling you the story from an audio standpoint. If what is on the screen isn’t making sense or if it’s misaligned, I will certainly get some help there…but these videos are mine and I’m very proud to make them and share them with you. #blind #overcome #inspiration #videoediting

World's most unique sunglasses I’m blind in the sense that I can’t see anything of any shape, form or substance. I can still however detect light…..and boy do I detect it in a BIG way. Whenever I see light, the receptors in the back on my eyes get overly excited and completely blow the image out. This is why I’m always wearing sunglasses when there is light around. When my cousin Mike Bowers learned that sunglasses might possibly prov8ide me a little bit of relief and maybe even some help, he went to work on these very cool sunglasses. #blind #sunglasses #3dprinting

I get really scared when… I have to have complete and total trust in people when I am asking them to guide me around. Thing is, people aren’t perfect and sometimes things do happen. That’s why I have always got at least some degree of complete fear and panic brewing in the back of my head when I’m letting people guide me. I built the ULTIMATE beach house! How a blind guy watches movies Audio description is not super new, but it is pretty new to me. I’ve only ever watched one movie before this using AD. For The Matrix Resurrections, it was really a big huge massive help. I never would have been able to understand this movie at all had it not been for the amazing audio description. I love that the industry is adding this into more and more films. I do very much miss being able to watch movies, but at least I can still enjoy them in a different way. #blind #movies #barbie #thematrix #audiodescription

One leg or no eyes – which is tougher? Running into Red on the beach was actually rather insane because Necia and I had JUST been talking about adaptive surfers on our way to the beach and I’d been expressing my admiration for those who go out there and surf without all of their limbs. The fact that red was there on the beach when we got there was truly serendipitous. Beyond that, Red was a very cool guy to speak with and to surf with. I learned a lot and gained a better appreciation for someone dealing with something a little different than what I’ve got going on. #blind #surfing #overcome #inspiration

Am I JUST eye candy? It’s kind of funny to notice how people have started to treat me differently over the years of my vision loss. Most notably is how they completely disregard me. Since I used to be able to see and I was part of that “judge by first looks” society, a part of me understands it. I get it. I really do. To say that it upsets me at this point would be overstating it. with the perspective I have, it pretty much just makes me laugh a little bit inside. It’s ok to judge. How I ended up in the cemetery I was most certainly the most qualified candidate to fill the roll of sailing instructor because of my long list of sailing accomplishments along with many happy students I’d already been teaching, so it was quite surprising when I was passed over for this job. I think it was probably the first taste of the real world that I had gotten and it prepared me to understand that things were NOT going to be easy going forward. #blind #discrimination #sailing #landscaping

LEGOS left him homeless I was sent this LEGO set and was all kinds of excited to get crackin’ on making a super-cool beach home for my little surfer buddy, but nothing about this LEGO set was blind friendly. I tried using OCR software to have my phone read the instructions and I even looked online for some audio instructions on the set…but there was nothing. My poor little surfer guy was left totally homeless and I felt so bad about it that I headed out to Bricks and Minifigs to see what I could do to help him out. A big thanks to the kind staff at Bricks and Minifigs in Carlsbad who let us into their establishment with cameras and who were very helpful in trying to find LEGO surfer Pete a nice new home. #lego #legos #surfing #blind

The Hollywood secret no one talks about If someone told you that they were an ADR actor you’d probably have no idea what the heck they were talking about….but they exist. I think most people probably know or at least have thought about the fact that a lot of actors have to re-do their lines because of the inability to control the soundscape of live recordings in the wild. But the whole little industry of having voice actors impersonate on camera actors isn’t really ever talked about. Ther is no awards show for ADR actors and a lot of times, the voice actors might even have to sign an NDA so they don’t disclose that it was actually them in the scene. I mean, it’s not scandalous or anything, it’s just kind of weird to know that every once in a while, the words coming out of your favorite actor’s mouth….might not be their words at all. #acting #adr #voiceactor

Right before it got REAL BAD There were actually a whole bunch of days in a row where I actually thought it was foggy out. There was no reason I wouldn’t think that because. It looked foggy out. Only after I really started to study and understand the mechanics of what was going on with my eyesight did I really start to understand what was going on. I never thought I’d turn into some sort of weird Vampire who was afraid of the sunlight but…that’s where I am. #blind #mrbeast

Blind Guy at the rifle range Now to be fair, I’ve had a fair amount of training with handguns, but this was NOT that. first of all, I’d never operated a rifle like this before. On top of that, I had no clue what the target range looked like. I’d only ever gone to a range with a single target directly in front of me. this was an entirely unique experience for me. it was also a REALLY fun experience. I’m really glad I performed well so that I could get Banana her little prize. #blind #airsoft #overcome

Most unique art project ever! When you can’t do stuff the “regular” way, you need to Find A Way to do it that works for you. that’s exactly what I did when I grabbed a can of spray paint and an egg full of Silly Putty to make what I hope is one of the coolest looking art designs yet. #blind #art

I HAD TO feel him It’s kind of weird meeting people and not knowing what they look like. Are looks important? Now I'm blind AND mute? I am deathly afraid of people who have any sort of a cold because the LAST thing I ever want is to lose my voice. I have no idea how I ended up with this cold, flu, virus or whatever it was….but it STOLE MY VOICE! I’ve been out of work for a few days now and the last couple of videos you’ve seen are ones I had “in the bank”.
