Weight loss is not complicated. But it is difficult. And what makes it difficult, is our mentality, and our mindset towards weight loss. Towards our attachment to a smaller body. Towards our subjective goals, and chasing subjective feelings. 100% of a successful, sustainable weight loss journey is going to be backed by a healthy mindset. A healthy relationship with nutrition. A relationship that’s built on self-love, and self trust. Breaking down the science, 80% of a result is nutrition., 20% of it is fitness. And the issue is, you feel like an order for you to reach your goal, you need to be at the gym 5 days a week you need to get 10,000 steps in, you need to eat a bunch of foods that you don’t actually enjoy, and you’re never going to be able to enjoy yourself again. And that is some kind of shit storm rooted in SHAME. That’s the issue. Shame. You can’t start this journey with the mentality that it’s not going to work. Or that you’re not good enough today. In the body that you’re currently in. You can’t start this journey because you hate yourself, you have to start this journey because you love yourself. sure self-hate could be a great motivator, but motivation is fleeting. And not reliable. What is going to get you results as discipline. And what is going to help you implement discipline into your life is having a strong WHY. Do it differently this time, babe, work through the root of the issue. Attack the mindset. Be curious, about your common points of failure. About self sabotaging behaviors. This is how I healed my relationship with my body and nutrition. understanding how movement affects your journey, is only going to empower you. With that being said, if you’re on a fat loss journey, the last thing you wanna do is a ton of cardio, because not only is that going to increase your appetite, which will likely take you out of a deficit, but it’s also going to break down your existing muscle. AND MUSCLE BURNS FAT. The way I wish I understood this at the beginning of my weight-loss journey… naturally the more muscle you have on your body, the lower your body, fat percentage will be PERIOD. Muscle is also the most metabolically active tissue in your body (which is a fancy way of saying that muscle needs a lot of calories to be sustained, so it stimulates your metabolism to function faster) so now are you not only burning body fat faster, but you are sustaining fat loss in the long run. ‼️No more using genetics as an excuse for a slow metabolism… ‼️ WHICH MEANS, weight training is the most efficient form of exercise that you should be performing, if you’re on a fat loss journey when it comes down to the science. But now I’ll eat my words, and say, if you cannot be consistent with weight training, at this point in your life, be consistent with whatever form of movement, makes you feel empowered, and strong.💪🏽 And if this is already overwhelming, or you can just tell you need more support, this is why I became a coach. This is how I healed my relationship with nutrition. I educated myself. I can honestly say, I no longer restrict myself. I no longer fear food. I no longer fear the number on the scale. And I no longer fear I’m gonna put all of the way back on… I know it’s intimidating, but I need you to remind yourself how capable you are. Discomfort equals growth. And anything worth having is worth working for. You need to get really clear on your Why, and be honest with yourself on what you’re willing to sacrifice, and what you’re willing to invest. Regarding the calorie deficit, this is the most accurate way to lose weight. A quick math equation you can do is, Step 1: Workout your BMR / BMR(women) = (10 x weight in kg) + (6.25 x height in cm) - (5 x age in years) - 161 Step 2: Decide your activity level / Little or no exercise, desk job: Little exercise 1-3 times per week: 1.375 Moderate exercise 3-5 times per week: 1.55 Heavy exercise 6-7 times per week: 1.75 Step 3: Multiply your BMR x activity level Step 4: Subtract 300 - 500 calories to determine your daily calorie deficit intake. This number is the amount of calories to eat per day. and if this is already overwhelming, or you can just tell you need more support, this is why I became a coach. It’s okay to reach out for help. ‼️LET ME EXPLAIN‼️ It’s true. I did lose 120 lbs. naturally and I do eat whatever TF I want. Now, let’s talk about how and most importantly WHY. How: Here’s a little education. Food, is energy for the human body. Food is made up of calories (units of energy) and calories are made up of 3 macronutrients, carbs, fats, and protein. When you TRULY understand that calories determine wether you GAIN, LOSE, or MAINTAIN your weight, and how each one these essential nutrients effects your body, and your results. You can TRULY eat anything you want. With intention. Now let’s talk about WHY I always allow myself to eat the foods I am craving. When you “demonize” or restrict certain foods you’re only going to crave them more and or also create a very negative relationship around food. Making intentional decisions to not have certain foods because they are truly unhealthy (full of processed shit) or just simply because they don’t align w/ you or your goals creates a way healthier and empowered relationship with yourself, your body, and nutrition.
