Run by 3 generations of an Italian family ❤️ details ⬇️ I’m so glad we found this place, @sanantonioseafood at 8383 Weston Road is beloved in the community in the broader Toronto area, remains a literally hidden gem. The business was started by Felice, who has been working in the seafood realm for 70 years now. I also met the two younger generations that help run the business - his sons Paolo and Gianfranco, and Gianfranco’s son Gabriel. Their warmth and genuine hospitality, which we also felt from our server Mike, is very hard to find these days. The people turned a great meal into a memorable experience. But more on the meal, a spectacular feast of counter to kitchen to table seafood, all within 15 feet of each other. Below is what we ordered and I would recommend every single thing: - $24 Calamari fritti - Complementary fish caponara appetizer - $30 House pinot grigio, half litre! - $32 Linguine pescatore, rose sauce - $75 Mixed grilled deluxe. With tiger shrimp and 4oz each of 4 fish. We picked Chilean seabass, black cod, mahi mahi, halibut - Complementary “gelati kiss” dessert to end, freaking incredible We chatted for a good half hour after the meal and they were nice enough to give us some rare imported limoncello prosecco to finish, unbelievable. I will remember this meal for a long time and can’t wait to return. Certainly of my favourite new finds of 2024 so far. Much love to the family. #torontofood #vaughanfood #torontoitalian

Viet x Indian fusion is incredible wtf. Details ⬇️ This series is all about showcasing Toronto/GTA’s diversity in a new way ❤️ this time, we’re in Mississauga. THE SPOT: I Love Pho is a classic Vietnamese spot in Mississauga, that my Viet friend first introduced me to. They have quite the expansive menu but super special is their short rib pho, one of the few spots in the GTA to offer this (especially for takeout). THE CHEF: @Rick Matharu is one of the GTA’s most beloved and well known chefs, who’s done everything from winning cooking shows to running food trucks. His baby is Rick’s Good Eats, his famous Mississauga restaurant where he makes his brand of fun, accessible Indian fusion eats grounded in quality ingredients and knowledge of tradition. This shoot would not be possible without his life and business partner Harjot, so nice to meet you both finally ❤️ If you haven’t watched past episodes, please do and also suggest spots, chefs and dishes you want to see featured in the comments! #greatertorontoarea #torontofood #cookingchallenge #mississauga
Full details ⬇️ Toronto’s already limited Indigenous food scene was further reduced over the pandemic, but I do my best to highlight what little there is in and around the GTA. Please do follow along if you want to learn about and explore underrepresented cuisines alongside me! I’m really happy to see Dehwigan Cafe open up. They operate as part of the Centennial College School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts at 939 Progress Ave, Scarborough. Enter the building shown in the video, and walk up to the 3rd floor. While I wish there were more Indigenous-owned food businesses operating in Toronto and more institutional support for more to open, I am glad to see that Dehwigan was designed by Indigenous architects (as was the whole building I believe, which is gorgeous) and that they feature Indigenous suppliers, ingredients and recipes. The food is genuinely fantastic and very affordable, I suggest it all: - Bannock sandwich $8.50 - Bison tacos $9.75 - 3 Sisters Salad $7 - Wild Rice Pudding $3.75 They also have Indigenous coffee and tea from Birch Bark Coffee and Tea Horse, as well as provisions ranging from pemmican to maple popcorn. Open M-F from 9am - 3pm. #torontofood #indigenousfood
