Fostering is such a happy thing, I get to help these dogs find families. I do have moments of sadness where I miss them, but being part of their story, and helping them find a family is such a beautiful thing.
@Rare Beauty has always been cruelty free but has made it official with @Leaping Bunny Program and is celebrating with these super fun and extra crinkly dog toys. Kara is obsessed.
Replying to @lyn_gigi_dogmom We will never know for sure, but I doubt either of them knew anything was wrong when I filmed this video. We have videos from our Furbo camera on Tuesday (the day Riley died) that shows a clear timeline of when he started to notice something was wrong. According to vets, that's how hemangiosarcoma typically happens, no symptoms until the tumor bursts. Kara snuggling Riley like this was very much their normal, and something I'm going to miss seeing so much.
It's totally ok when adoption appointments don't work out. It doesn't mean there's anything wrong, sometimes it's just not a fit. Ivan is super special, and we just wanna make sure he finds the perfect fit.
Replying to @sherryreisingerpickens Kara is (expectedly) off, she's quiet, not herself. Took her out for the day and played tourist in San Diego. She was a little tentative and nervous. She was happiest when we got to @JustFoodForDogs , she loves it there and was soaking up all the love (and snacks).
Replying to @_roni_310 I'm confident in saying that we did all the things you should do, and probably more. Even with regular checkups and high quality daily care and food, dogs are still dying from this horrible aggressive cancer. I've obviously been reading about it since Riley passed and there are so many stories like ours. There are also many stories of dogs being stable enough for surgery and still dying weeks later, or months later with chemo. This cancer is the worst, and currently there's little chance of detecting it until it's too late.
Ivan was a special foster for us for many reasons. I couldn't be more happy that he was adopted today, but I also couldn't be more excited about who adopted him. Ivan was adopted by the mom of our previous foster Greta (who has since passed). It's so special for her to open her home up to another pup, and of course I'm thrilled that it's Ivan.
I have gotten so much support and kind thoughtful messages since Riley's passing (seriously you guys are amazing). However I'm starting to get more and more "go save a shelter dog, Riley would want you to" kinds of comments, and I want to be very clear that I don't appreciate those. I'm very aware that there are dogs who need homes, I'm aware that Kara needs a sibling. We will adopt again, but we will do it on our own timeline, and it's just not something I need feedback on.
When a dog settles quickly with a foster, they typically settle quickly with their forever family too. Ivan is just a super adaptable happy pup. I can't wait for him to be adopted.
We felt like having something positive to focus on would be good for all of us. Not sure if we will post as much as a normal fling, but we also don't really think Ivan needs that much help. He's new to Frosted Faces, 8 years old, super cute, friendly and sweet. Hoping he gets a family very soon.
