Being an adult and being an artist and doing taxes (and being a trans poc with a uterus, in Florida specifically right now) is like standing in a line you aren't allowed to leave, where you periodically get hit with a crowbar, and you have to hope it doesn't swing too hard and hope it doesn't hit any vital organs and hope the line keeps moving to wherever it's moving to (you're not quite sure you just know your youth is leaving you but are also told things are better with age), and sometimes your neighbors and the people you love get hit with the crowbar and you can't DO anything about it because your kneecap is sore and your arm is bruised and if you let your guard down to try and help them you're EXTREMELY succeptible to getting hit with a crowbar again yourself, and sometimes people (better dressed, better equipped people that have knee guards and helmets and sometimes even have crowbars of their own) are telling you to simply stop getting hit by the crowbar or that the crowbar hardly even hurts when it hits them, and some people (luckier people than yourself that somehow know a great deal more than you or are better at faking it) are trying to teach you to jump or duck to avoid the crowbar or to take preemptive measures to soften the blow of the crowbar but you don't know when it's going to be swung and you don't know if you need to watch out for your knees or your ribs or your face this time because to look out for them all at once would mean to curl up and fall out of line, and you're trying not to wonder what you or anyone else did to deserve getting hit over and over and over again and it's hard to feel like you're doing a good job for very long because it always happens the second you don't expect it and it's like what am I DOING here what do I do??
