Mini morning routine 🤍 love when I can have a slow morning. Walking is my biggest life hack as a mom, you get to spend time with your kids while getting your workout in! Went on a 3 mile walk & got to finish my audio book💫

As a mother myself, I now truly understand the magnitude of what my parents went through moving three children to a whole new country with a dream of a better life. I can’t imagine moving somewhere with no job lined up, not even knowing the language or culture, but knowing it’s what I had to do for my family. I acknowledge the privileges I’ve had growing up, but I also know what I’ve been through. I didn’t grow up with a silver spoon in my mouth, I grew up with hard-working immigrant parents who would do everything in their power to make my siblings and I happy. My entire childhood was spent in our kabab restaurant, a little tiny mom and Pop shop in Columbus, Ohio. My parents worked from morning until night, 7 days a week. We would also be open on holidays too. It wasn’t until I was in high school, we started to close on Mondays so that we could have a “family day”. I never once felt like my parents didn’t love me, but I remember envying my peers for their parents being able to come to their games, recitals, chaperone school events, etc. I remember envying kids because my parents still didn’t have a strong understanding of English, so I would have to make phone calls, set appointment, fill out paperwork, etc. from a very young age. Now I thank my parents for it because it gave me the strength & confidence to figure stuff out on my own. The life and opportunities I have now are things I could only dream of. It’s not hard for me to stay motivated when I know what my life could’ve been and how thankful I am for where it is now. I often wonder how different the cards would’ve been for me if my family would’ve never made the leap to move to move to America. I’ll forever thank God for the position I’m in, and I will always promise to take care of those around me & pay it forward.
