People with ADHD tend to struggle with both proprioception (spatial awareness of body) and interoception (internal physical sensations). Often this leads to difficulty managing aspects of life like sleep, hunger, emotion management and general self care. - This topic is just one of many that we cover in the feeling your feelings somatic workshop – there are some spots left and all the details are in my bio to sign up🫶🏾
A lifetime of suppressing your feelings, wants and needs, would understandably result in a disconnection to your sense of self and difficulty with identity. - We’re just under 2 weeks away from the Feeling your Feelings somatic workshop. We’re gonna be talking all about disconnection from self, trauma, responses, coping tools, and practising in between sessions each week. There’s a zoom replay if you can’t make a session, and there’s a few tickets left! Link in bio to sign up 🤍
Resistance is just information for the therapist about how to move forward and prioritize, creating a safe relationship and environment in order to work through hard things🫶🏾
Replying to @ash remember both are important skills, but over amplication of one or the other often causes us to feel overwhelmed, disconnected, and dysregulated.
#ad #ad ADHD paralysis can feel debilitating at times, but the more aware that you are of the signs, and the strategies that tend to assist you in exiting that state, the easier it becomes! Thankful for @Clorox Clean-Up Cleaner + Bleach for making those times that much easier! #adhd #adhdinwomen #clorox
Emotional numbness can be caused for a variety of reasons - but essentially comes down to the nervous system feeling overloaded and incapable of handling sensations and feelings. When youre able to recognize where the wound comes from, what you need and slowly tolerate sensations, yoir nervous sytem gets used to it bit by bit🤍 #therapytiktok #somatictherapy
Replying to @funmilade... I guess What were some of your answers to the question orrr how did your answer make you feel? #calgarytherapy #yyctherapy #therapytiktok #blacktherapist
