we’re back baby! season 2 of Izakaya at Home: Tori #nanban Recipe: Tartar Sauce: 2 hardboiled eggs, chopped 1 small cucumber, seeded and finely diced 1/4 white onion, finely diced salt cucumber and onion, let sit for 15 minutes, squeeze to release excess water 1/2 tsp soy sauce squeeze of lemon juice 1/4 tsp black pepper 1/3 cup kewpie mayo mix above ingredients together. store in fridge until needed. nanban sauce: 2 tbsp soy sauce 2 tbsp rice vinegar 2 tbsp mirin 2 tbsp sugar 1 tbsp water combine in small saucepan, heat until sugar dissolves and slightly reduced. set aside. optional, season chicken thighs: 1 tsp soy 2 tsp mirin 1 clove garlic 1/2 tsp grated ginger marinate for 20-30 mins. coat chicken in flour and dip in beaten egg. fry in a neutral oil at 330 degrees until internal temp reaches 165 degrees. remove from oil. pour over nanban sauce. plate on fresh greens and top with tartar sauce. enjoy! #izakaya #japanesefood #friedchicken #tartarsauce #eggsalad #EasyRecipe #kewpiemayo

Once hot, add your short ribs. Lightly sear (1 min) each side until golden brown. Turn down the heat, add your dashi broth and cook for 10 mins. 8 cloves garlic 1⁄2 cup soy 1⁄2 cup mirin 1⁄4 cup sugar / brown sugar 1⁄2 tsp grated ginger 1⁄4 daikon, cut into chunks 1⁄2 large carrot, cut into chunks 6 shiitake mushrooms, sliced 8 jujubees 8 peeled chestnuts 2 tbsp rice syrup/ corn syrup Add marinade and vegetables to the pot and bring to a simmer. Cover with lid. Cook in oven at 300 degrees for 2-3hrs OR simmer on stovetop on low heat for 1.5-2 hrs. Once tender, remove from oven. Place on the stove over medium heat, add rice syrup and allow the sauce to thicken slightly for 15 mins. Serve with banchan and rice. Can store in the fridge for up to 3 days.
