Let’s talk tyres… 🛞 Here’s an insight into what goes in to preparing the wheels and tyres of the #WorldSBK Yamaha R1: After arriving at the circuit and setting up, the tyre techs will give the rims a clean and quick check over (any involved in an incident will have been crack tested back at base). Then, they head to Pirelli to pick up their initial tyres for the weekend. Pirelli fit these to the rims, and then balance the wheel. Once back in the garage, the guys will set the cold pressure and double check the balancing. Weight will be added, removed, or distributed where necessary. Then it’s back on the tyre rack, where the warmer is set to 100 degrees a minimum of two hours before the tyre may be used. Ahead of the rider going out, the techs will check and set the pressure before the wheel goes in the bike and the rider rolls down pit lane 😁 #FYP #Motorsport
#LifeHack from the #MXGP pros! Cover the bike in Duct Tape ahead of the sighting lap, so when the rider comes in, you can rip the tape off & in theory, the bike should be cleaner & lighter! #YZ250F #YamahaRacing #Mechanic
Checking the rider sag involves measuring the amount of suspension compression that occurs when the rider is sitting on the bike in a static position. The rider sag is an important setting that affects the handling and performance of the motorcycle. To check the rider sag, you typically measure the distance between certain points on the bike before and after the rider sits on it. This measurement helps determine if the suspension setup is properly adjusted for the rider's weight and riding style. #MXGP #Motocross #Suspension #MX2 #Dirtbike #YamahaRacing

⚒️🧰 Some Thursday tech goodness for you, take a look at Pata Prometeon Yamaha suspension engineer Luca Federzoni changing Andrea Locatelli’s front fork spring ahead of a wet FP3 at last week’s #CatalanWorldSBK While many suspension changes on the front during a race weekend will only involve tweaking the preload, compression or rebound, on some occasions a spring change is necessary and as you can see, it’s not too long of a process! In this instance, the team are switching to a softer spring to better suit the slippery conditions in the wet. #worldsbk #superbike #fyp
How the pro #mechanics wire grips! All six of the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory #MXGP & #MX2 riders run traditional grips, not lock-on grips. They prefer the thinner more connected feel. This means the mechanics need to glue & wire their grips to prevent them slipping. In addition to using grip glue, they will wire the grip in three places, on the inner, outer & center of the grip. #Motocross #Grips #YamahaRacing

MXGP mechanics typically use shorthand and quick messages on the pit board to communicate with riders during a race. Some common messages that MXGP mechanics write on the pit board during Time Practice are: ✔️ race position ✔️ lap time ✔️ time remaining in session ✔️ mental reminders such as “calm” or “breathe” #Motocross | #MXGP | #YamahaRacing | #Pitlane | #Pitboard | #Mechanic

More MXGP #Infotainment 🔧 Every Friday before each round of @mxgp, the bikes, helmets & body armour have to go through Technical Control. - At Technical Control, the bikes & protective wear are inspected to ensure they comply with the rules and regulations set by the FIM (Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme). This includes checking the weight of the bike, as well as ensuring that the bike meets technical specifications such as weight limits, exhaust noise levels, and safety requirements. - Drop any questions in the comments 👍 - #MXGP | #YamahaRacing | #Motocross | #TechnicalControl | #Mechanic | #Dirtbike
