one of my major struggles I had to learn how to deal with once I started traveling over longer periods of time (many months) was: how do I keep meeting these wonderful people I want to pursue a deeper connection with, however, before we get to that we have to say goodbye again? So how do you avoid having all your encounters feel superficial as a traveler? First, figure out your travel style: 1) slow travel 2) faster travel If you prefer 1), it will be easier to build a friend circle and grow meaningful friendships as you naturally have more time with people However, if you choose 2), like me, its a little bit more tricky. For me, „home“ is where I can mentally be at peace and don‘t have to think every 2 seconds what do I have to do next. Once I started traveling, these „homes“ have started to form all around the world. Now, I incorporate them throughout my months of traveling. That guarantees me, that incase a travel stretch gets exhausting for whatever reason, I have somewhere to recover. Another thing I can recommend is: travel with no plan. Surrender to the flow. Remind yourself, why do you travel? I personally want to experience most & ENJOY most. If I meet someone and we absolutely vibe, I‘d rather go to a different country next than originally anticipated because if that means I get to spend time with this person🫶🏻 -> don‘t book it all in advance! Allow friendships organically to happen. Stop forcing yourself into every social introduction- it WILL burn you out. Less is more I believe & you will encounter the right people along your journey anyways.. if someone seems interesting to you, just initiate a conversation & see where it takes you💜 Make it a priority to see your favorite people again! I started to realize I have already met SO many wonderful people that I do want to form a deeper connection with, in order for that to happen I simply make it my priority. Meaning I will make a plan to see them again. And I do:) it works! For me at least. Lastly, find peace in the beautiful memories and remember they don‘t have to be your last.
