I started sharing my life online a decade ago. I was a Mum with a baby and a toddler. I was exhausted. Thick in the middle of sleepless nights and tantrums. TV was Peppa based. Meals were fish fingers and waffles. Like most new Mums I found it hard. Ten years later it’s easier. There’s still difficult bits of course but life is a lot calmer. Whilst those sleepless nights went so slowly, time now just seems to be going so quickly. When we were all in the same room last week laughing at Stephen farting and chatting about rubbish. It dawned on me. I’ve not got this stage for that much longer. My son is in his last year of primary school. My girl goes into Year 9 this year. I’m wondering what the future will be like. And am going to try and make the most of this bit whilst I can. Parenting really is a wild journey isn’t it? Would love some advice from any of you with older kids. Love you! In the last year we watched 157 episodes of Gilmore Girls together. Doing a little dance we invented to the theme tune. Every single time. She watched me cry at the soppy bits. I watched with glee at her reacting to the bits I knew were coming. We visited the REAL Stars Hollow yesterday. We saw New York where Rory goes to find Jesse. We saw Sookie’s house. Lorelai’s leafy driveway. And Luke’s diner. We gasped when we saw the bandstand that was so pivotal throughout. I shed a little tear and then got fleeced in the gift shop by my very own Rory. She’s actually gone back to the start and is watching all over again. We’ve now started Dawsons Creek. A brand new dance needs to be invented. Thank you Gilmore Girls for giving me something to bond with my 13 year old. And in the words of Rory and Lorelai "It's a show?" "It's a lifestyle. It's a religion."
