Thank you random OCD dad!!! Not to nerd out, but I mean OCD the colloquial sense of the word, which is very different from the medical diagnosis of obsessive compulsive disorder. When most people SAY “I’m so OCD” or “That’s so OCD,” they are many times describing characteristics associated with OCPD or Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder (super organized, checklist heavy, perfectionism). This is distinct from OCD or Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, which is when people have true obsessions and compulsions (think Jack Nicholson in “As Good as It Gets”). People with an actual diagnosis of OCD have repeated unwanted thoughts (obsessions) and compulsions to perform certain rituals and behaviors. Thanks again, random dad!!
