Replying to @sweatysadface Here it is I promise! 🫀 This is what beating heart cells look like under a microscope: The cell cultures pictured in this video are from my undergraduate honors thesis at Wheaton College. I was very fortunate to be able to work with these cell cultures early on to explore regenerative medicine research. 🔬 What are these cells exactly? This video shows a cell culture of Human Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell Derived (iPSC) - Cardiomyocytes (aka. Heart Muscle Cells). Let’s break that down: The cardiomyocytes were produced from stem cells. The stem cells came from a donor’s cells in a bl00d or skin sample that scientists turned back into stem cells. That’s what makes them “induced pluripotent stem cells” 🧫 #STEM #biology #cells #research
