Singapore's prime minister, Lee Hsien Loong, said an incentive provided to Taylor Swift to make Singapore the only stop in south-east Asia on her world tour was not a hostile act towards its neighbours. ‘It has turned out to be a very successful arrangement. I don't see that as being unfriendly,’ Lee said. Swift is currently part way through six sold-out shows in Singapore, her only stop in south-east Asia. #TaylorSwift #Singapore #SingaporeTSTheErasTour

According to a staff member at Saigon Noodle in the Oxford Street mall, the perpetrator calmly ate a lunch of red curry chicken with rice hours before stabbing and killing six people and injuring 12 more. Rogate Sianipar, 29, served Cauchi at 12.22pm on Saturday, telling a Guardian Australia reporter, 'He seemed confused when he ordered. Normal but confused.'

Ooh, look! A shiny graph … that explains how cooked the housing market is … and why you can’t afford a house … There’s a lot of debate about why and how Australia’s housing market became the garbage fire it is today, with many accusations being hurled at one particular suspect: negative gearing. But while negative gearing is certainly a factor, it doesn't deserve all the blame. The Guardian's Matilda Boseley (@mattieunofficial ) explains when it comes to Australia’s housing crisis, negative gearing is just the pile of garbage waiting for a match to set it alight. In the new podcast series Who Screwed Millennials, Full Story co-host Jane Lee and reporter Matilda Boseley investigate how millennials became the first generation worse off than their parents - and unable to afford homes. A member of the European parliament released a white dove in the parliamentary chamber on Wednesday, in what he claimed was a gesture of peace. Miroslav Radačovský, an MEP from the Slovak Patriot party, made a short speech in what he said was his 'last intervention' in parliament. He wished Europe and the world peace, before releasing the bird from a bag around his waist. 'Let's let this dove unite all of us. Let this dove, a symbol of peace … let us realise that what we need most is really peace,' he said. As the bird flapped around the chamber, another colleague asked Radačovský: “Can you catch it as well?” Read more via the link in our bio. #Europe #EuropeanUnion #Europeanparliament #Slovakia #news #worldnews

“You have not answered the question Mr Banducci. Honestly, I’m not interested in your spin or bulls***.” The Greens senator Nick McKim, who is chairing the Senate inquiry into supermarket practices, told Brad Banducci he may be held in contempt after the Woolworths chief executive declined to disclose the company’s return on equity, an important gauge of profitability, amid claims the company price gouges customers and unfairly puts pressure on suppliers. “I also feel compelled to advise you that that opens up a range of sanctions, personal sanctions that can be applied against you if that’s what the Senate decides to do,” the senator said. #Woolworths #supermarkets #Australianews

Seven members of a food aid charity have been killed in an Israeli strike in central Gaza, according to their organisation. World Central Kitchen (WCK) said in a statement on Tuesday morning that foreign nationals were among those killed. The workers from the UK, Australia, Poland, Palestine, as well as a dual citizen of the US and Canada, were travelling in two armoured cars branded with the charity’s logo, according to WCK. Australian prime minister Anthony Albanese named the Australian national killed as Zomi Frankcom, and called her work “extraordinarily important”. The Guardian has sought comment from British and Polish authorities. “Despite coordinating movements with the IDF, the convoy was hit as it was leaving the Deir al-Balah warehouse, where the team had unloaded more than 100 tons of humanitarian food aid brought to Gaza on the maritime route,” WCK said in its statement. 📸: Reuters/AFP/Getty Images/EPA/World Central Kitchen #Aid #Gaza #Israel #IsraelGazaWar
