I will keep trying and keep trying!! Practice makes perfect. ⭐️ One day I’ll get in something awesome! Or just something that pays! Or just something that I can use in a reel lol! I know every part I go for there are hundreds to thousands of talented actors going for the same one, so I don’t feel too bad when I dont get a role. Nevertheless, I’m sure other actors know it can be exhausting spending hours memorizing, preparing for, filming, and editing a self tape to not get cast. I know not every one is due to this, but I have had one too many directors tell me that my disability is the reason they didn’t cast me. My goal is to eventually be out there acting and voice acting as I really want to bring more disability representation to media. Did you know that even though over 25% of Americans are disabled, less than 2% of speaking roles in films were disabled characters in 2022 according to a report by USC? Out of that, few disabled characters are played by disabled actors, which is something we need to fight to change for authentic representation. This all goes well beyond me, of course, but it’s something I’m deeply passionate about. Despite daily rejection, I will continue to go out for part after part until I get something. Meet Crumple! 🌞 My miraculous Western Tiger Swallowtail that landed outside my building last Tuesday with a broken wing and has been hanging out with me ever since. When I found her on the ground outside with her wing all crumpled, I thought that she had just come out of the chrysalis, her wing needed to dry, and she needed a safe place. So, I brought her inside, gave her some sugar water, and put her back out. I thought that she would either fly away or pass that night as butterflies don’t live too long. To my shock, when I came back from visiting my girlfriend on Friday night, she was clinging to my screen door! Days later! I brought her in, she hopped right on me again. My roommate cut her a banana and I made her some sugar solution. She would only be handfed by me, she is very picky. Eventually I got her off of me and went to bed. I didn’t think she would make it through the night. Yet again, to my surprise, she did! She was there Saturday morning, night, then Sunday morning, night, Monday, Tuesday, and here I am writing this with her sitting on my shoulder on Wednesday. This video is from us on Saturday. I haven’t been so inspired lately to do creative makeup or art but she really pushed me out of it. I felt really drawn to put her on my face. She has also since laid 3 eggs, likely not fertilized, but still so cool! Unfortunately that means her time with me will likely be coming to an end soon, but I have thoroughly enjoyed it. So much that I actually ordered a caterpillar grow kit that’s coming on monday!
