Spring can be scary in WA for orchardists! Apples, pears, and cherries when in bloom are susceptible to freezing from the low temps we see at night. 🌸 If the bloom doesn’t make it, we don’t have a crop- simple as that. So we invest a lot in wind machines like these to bring more warm air around bloom at night. It just is up to us to make sure they are actually working! . . #spring #orchard #freshfruit #apple #pear #washington #pnw #cold #frost #farming #agriculture #LearnOnTikTok

Growers of @USA Pears invest a lot in our pear crop from the get-go. Pruning takes place in the early months of the year before the tree has begun to even wake up! Pruning helps establish balance in the tree, and for fruit it helps with air circulation and controlling size. If you’ve ever pruned a fruit tree, you know it can take a while. We are so thankful for our skilled crews that work hard to set our pear trees up for a successful growing season! Do you have a pear tree in your back yard that needs pruning?🍐 #USAPears #Pear #Farming #Prunning #Farmer #Orchard #PearGrower #Washington #PNW
We have a lot of river ground that has heavy soil apples don’t really like, but the pears love it so they are essential for making that ground profitable. This year we are one of many families that are seeing very light/no pear and soft fruit crops. ☹️🍐 However, this is not our first rodeo! We have diversity between apples and pears, and different varieties within those fruit types. Other varieties are looking better and hopefully with a good market, we can make it out ok. It definitely is stressful, not only to make sure we make it ok, but so we can stay in business so 50+ people have jobs too. Say a lil prayer for your fruit farming friends please 🫶 #earthday #pears #apples #freshfruit #orchard #agriculture #farming #LearnOnTikTok #washington #pnw
Cosmic Crisp®️ apples are special to me not just because we grow them, but because they were bred through my alma mater! For 20 years Dr. Bruce Barritt, and others at Washington State University, worked to breed, develop, and research the cross between Enterprise and Honeycrisp called “WA-38.” Dr. Carolyn Ross then led the efforts to name the apple by organizing focus groups and taste tests! The physical traits coupled with the eating qualities of WA-38 led to the name Cosmic Crisp®️! I’m always amazed at the work done in developing a new apple variety far before we as farmers get to even plant them. Extra proud to be part of a school doing such innovative things! Go Cougs! #CosmicCrisp #NewApple #WSU #Education #Apples #WashingtonState #Horticulture #Research #Science #WhereFoodComesFrom
I am so proud to be part of an industry that is passionate, family focused, and honest. American farms are still real people working real dirt, and producing a real product. #americanfarmer #soGodmadeafarmer #farmersdaughter #familyfarm #agriculture #paulharvey
I’ve been eating apples straight off the tree since I was a kid, I promise they are fine lol. I feel bad for consumers who have to navigate all the negativity around fresh produce 😞❤️ #dirtydozen #applefarmer #apples #applegirl #freshproduce
