Do not let a settler state weaponize and warp what it means to be Indigenous. Being Indigenous is not simply tracing a small portion of your DNA to a region you have had no connection to for thousands and thousands of years. Humans are not all “indigenous” to Africa simply because we can trace ancient ancestry there. Native peoples must boldly reject Western settlers’ theft of our struggle and identity in order to further violently colonize. Step up, educate yourself and your community. #nativetiktok #indigenous #navajonation #indigenoussolidarity
Aaron has been preoccupying my thoughts the last few days. I fell down a rabbit hole scrolling through his Reddit history and saw he spent time speaking up for Natives, even in leftist spaces. Whether he was standing up for Indigenous people, trans people, disabled people, or Palestinians, Aaron's passion and empathy for others set him apart even in life. In the midst of tremendous tragedy and hopelessness lately, people like Aaron Bushnell give me hope.
When enough time pases for the world to fully acknowledge this travesty for what it is and everyone wants to pretend they didn’t sit there excusing it, remember who among your friends or family celebrated & defended the massacre of 🇵🇸
Trees are what helped me make the visceral connection between my people and Palestine. Seeing Palestinians cling to their olive trees and weep as settlers destroy them reminds me of the US army burning and destroying every plant and animsl they came across in order to starve us. #onthisday #nativetiktok #navajonation #indigenoussolidarity
The past few months have helped me realize that, at 30, I’m growing into my Auntie era. Years ago, having so many of my own people disagree with me, whisper behind my back, or tell me to pipe down about 🇵🇸 would have made me secondguess myself or hesitate. But it’s my turn to set a good example of what it means to fight and resist. Diné women like Dr. Melanie Yazzie and Louise Benally, who have been fiercly steadfast for 🇵🇸, have been criticized, talked down to, & insulted by our own people (particularly Navajo men 👀). And yet their voices do not waver because they know what they are doing is right. That is what it means to be a strong, unapologetic Diné asdzáán. There can be no hózhó where there injustice, and fighting fiercely against oppression IS hózhó #nativetiktok #navajonation #indigenoussolidarity #dinétiktok
This song released back in 2021. While more of us are seeing the truth now thanks to brave journalists, none of this violence & destruction is new to them. We can’t rewind and speak up sooner, but we can KEEP TALKING ABOUT IT. #indigenoussolidarity #fromturtleislandtopalestine
