Many manufacturers put a lot of research into packaging and test the shelf life of the food in the original packaging… it can help protect nutrients in the food from breaking down.” -Tufts.edu “Proper food storage maintains nutritional value… Store pet food and treats in the original bag.” -FDA.gov While this may be the “optimal” way to store kibble, it doesnt make you an awful human if you do it differently 👇 If you need to pour the kibble out, consider a glass or food safe container, but thoroughly clean between each bag to avoid leftover fats/mold etc 🧼 And i get that larger bags tend to cost less, but for optimal freshness, it’s safest to buy the BIGGEST bag you can afford that can be fed in under 3-4 weeks Once that bag opens, fats can start to oxidize and go rancid. This is WHY pet food manufacturers put so much money/research into the science of the bag material - to protect the nutrients/fats I share this not to alarm you, but to help you make an informed decision And whatever you can do, just so your best. This is extremely rare to find in kibble. Period, and even though this isn’t the lowest cost food on the market, for the quality of the sourcing while being a less processed food (ie baked) - has me intrigued 👀 👍 Their use of certified humane chicken MEAL is unheard of. Whether you like this food or not, that’s something I wish I saw more of in the market 👍 Most affordable option. It’s over 23% less expensive than their other kibble lines 👎 Higher carbs and lower protein than their RawMix line NET: I see this as a great food to consider for a pet parent wanting to upgrade to a humanely sourced food that’s a bit less processed than most other kibbles Remember, most kibbles are extruded and ultra-processed. This new line is baked at lower temps which is something I look for in kibbles. These two off leash dogs caught me off guard (totally my fault as I was trying to film Marlowe), but it was good practice in an “emergency” as these dogs were rushing us off leash pretty quickly REAL TALK: My knee jerk reaction is to tighten Marlowe’s leash to “protect her” and “urgently” call her to me - BUT, both of those things will only make her more stressed - so I tried to stay calm and get her attention to create distance This is why practicing recall/name recognition is so important. This video isn’t perfect, but I’m not here to be perfect - I’m here to learn everything I can FOR Marlowe which inevitably means I’ll make mistakes.
