Maybe I should have just bought a premade bunkbed… That was a thought I had after I was about half way done, but once I finished the build, I realized it was worth all the work. Plus seeing how much my daughters loved it made it work all the extra work it was. Stay tuned for a couple more fun additions to their room! Another one done. It’s crazy what you can do in a day if you set your mind to it. The principle said they haven’t used this court is years, and wondered if I would consider helping them bring it back to life. So I loaded my supplies and started at 7am the next moneing and finished that same day around 5pm. A long day, but absolutely worth it. I’m thankful to get to give back to my community in such a fun and lasting way. I have kids come up to me at the store asking me if I’m “the guy who fixes basketball hoops?” It’s a wild world we live in and I just want to express the gratitude I have toward every single person who follows, likes, comments, or shares any of my content. I don’t take it for granted, and don’t feel deserving, but will always try to make others smile, and I want you to know, you can do it too. Whatever “it” is, you got this, you can do it! Who else had one of these as a kid? Obviously mine wasn’t this big, but I thought this would be fun to play outside with our kids this summer. I couldn’t do the whole room and leave the closet like that. Plus I had extra wallpaper, paint, and wood, so it didn’t cost much more just to finish out the room. It’s been so fun to see my daughters enjoying their bunkers, excited to go to bed to get to turn on their own little lights and tell stories. From an unused old little cubby in their closet to a magical doll house that my daughters will use for years to come. Was the little front door necessary? No, but doing it makes it all the more magical. Let me start with saying my wife is the real MVP and she’s the reason I’m able to do these things for our girls. We just had our third daughter, so there was two reasons why I wanted to redo my daughter’s room. First, I knew that there are going to be at least 7 more years of little girls sleeping in the bunk beds, so it was worth the build. And second, and more importantly, I wanted to do something special for my older two daughters as we embark on this journey as a family of 5 together. I want them to always know though our attention is split, they are always our whole worlds. No one likes to say goodbye to summer, so we thought a little party might help. I went around in the morning and gathered the bounce houses from a couple of my friend’s houses. Then to the grocery store for snacks and drinks, and then got to work. We are beyond thankful for the friends in our life that feel like families. My wife is my hero. I’ve been wanting to finish this room for a long time now and we had ordered most of this stuff a while back, but never found the time to actually put the room together. So for Father’s Day (obviously before we had our baby), with the help of her dad, she did it. This video of her and her dad is one of my favorites ever. It’s not perfect, but it’s better. When I asked the principal what they wanted done, he just said he’d loved the court cleaned up, and maybe a free throw line added, so that’s what we did. Thankful for the opportunity to help out my local community where I can, and I couldn’t do it without all of you.
