Our current food system is broken. Most of our food comes from profit-driven industrial farms that use: - 4Btons of pesticides☠️ - 12B kilograms of plastics every year to grow and deliver our food. These pollutants find their way into our oceans🐢 and even our bodies🤒 By 2050, there will be nearly 10B people on Earth. To feed the world, we will need: - 56% more food, which means more pesticide, plastic, and greenhouse gas emissions will be released into the environment. - Convert 593M hectares of forests and savannah (twice the size of India) into farming land, leading to massive soil degradation and significant loss of natural habitats for wildlife ‼️We have to do something about this‼️ I’m a 23-year-old Gen Z working on a sustainable way for us to grow and access food. I’ve developed an educational platform that empowers everyone to build mini farms at home (even with no backyard) using methods that require less space, water and energy than traditional methods. While my solution may not address the whole problem, it could empower everyone with a skill to take control of the availability and quality of their fresh food while helping reduce the use of single-use plastics and toxic pesticides that harm our health and planet. Hi, I’m Anna, 23, and the person behind Urban Farmer TV. This year I made a big risk 😅. With limited savings, I quit my job to pursue what I really LOVE - building creative solutions 🌱and making an impact🌎 I created the first-ever Netflix of Gardening Education, an educational platform that empowers EVERYONE to build MINI FARMS at home using less space, water, and energy than traditional methods. This project was inspired by a personal struggle my grandma and I faced. High-quality and affordable food is hard to access. When we buy leafy greens, we usually end up eating less because they rot quickly or aren’t clean. What drove me further was knowing how unsustainable our current food system is. Each year, commercial farms use billions of kilograms of plastics ⚠️and pesticides☠️to produce and deliver food which harm our health and planet.
