Today is “National Write Down Your Story Day” and I CANNOT stress this enough… DO IT. I had 100 followers when I started and I didn’t know a damn thing about writing a book. So I googled the shit out of it. How to write, how to format, how to publish…Everything. I had submitted my manuscript to many publishers and was declined repeatedly. They said I didn’t have a big enough following and we weren’t confident that it would sell. So I said eff it and self-published it myself. You all bought so many copies that publishers started coming after ME. *smirks in satisfaction* I know these results aren’t “typical”, but let me just say the writing down my story was one of the greatest decisions I ever made. Writing down stories is important for many reasons. Even if it sees the light of day. It’s therapeutic, it can be healing, and it’s a cool way to leave a legacy.
