POV: you’ve forgotten all your skincare a few thousand miles away from home 😅. When you have to go to the #FrenchPharmacy because you forgot EVERYTHING at home 😂 (other than sunscreen). What I got… ✅ @La Roche-Posay Retinol B3: Blend of #retinol and #niacinamide to gently nudge your collagen and cell turnover. I can probably use this every night because it’s so gentle. Tret I use 2-3x a week for context. ✅ @Eau Thermale Avène Cleanance—acne products and products that speed up cell turnover can go hand in hand — this has succinc acid which is anti inflammatory and anti microbial (for acne) but can also be helpful for sensitive skin that wants a glow. I can also use this every night because it’s so gentle. Typically I’d use @Dr. Idriss flash mask 1-2x a week. So, while this is less dramatique skincare — I can be dramatic in how I use it which is OFTEN. CLARIFYING LAW ON AHAs… law is you cannot have lactic acid at 10% with a ph of under 5. Not sure anyone remembers the Sunday Riley good genes debacle where they had to pull the entire launch in 2018 because it had 7% lactic acid at a pH of 3. So to have a pH of 4 think the strongest you can get to is 5%. Will triple check and make a video because pH with acids is fascinating. 33% was too many in my informal poll 😩 getting full sun protection from your sunscreen is key, especially when you’re like me and laser your face, use retinoids etc. Unless if you’re as good at makeup as #meredithduxbury … idk if you’re getting enough sun protection with a tinted sunscreen. Layering is your friend here. Do I use tinted sunscreen and foundation sunscreens? Yes! Are they my primary sunscreen? No! I like to layer. Using a sunscreen that’s cheaper like Beauty of Joseon @Beauty of Joseon and then apply a couple of drops of my foundation on top. Seeing so much misinformation lately on #retinoids, a quick refresher. ➡️ Retinoids are Vitamin A derivatives. If a wellness influencer is demonizing retinol they need to also get their pitchforks out for Vitamin A rich kale. 🥬 ➡️ Not everyone can use retinoids. Not everyone wants to use retinoids. Doesn’t take away from fact they’re well studied, well tolerated and are one of the skincare ingredients out there that delivers. ➡️ The #EU is NOT banning retinol. They’re limiting the % used. They do this with lots of ingredients like lactic acid. Lactic acid is found in yogurt. Please, stop the panique!! (Lactic acid is limited to I believe 2.5%).
