The teacher absolutely should not have let that child slide on those spelling errors on that spelling test. There is a reason why teachers give a spelling test and do is are expected to spell the word correctly in the context that the word is given in. One day a student thought I called them hot. I have never one time in my life, called a student, or even implied that a student was hot.
