Baby girls due date is TODAY and I cannot believe we made it to 40 weeks! 🥹 We started our infertility journey 7 YEARS ago and while this pregnancy has truly felt like a miracle, no one prepared me for what pregnancy after infertility feels like. On one hand, you feel so incredibly blessed to be able to experience everything you’ve ever wanted, but on the other hand, you don’t know where you fit in anymore. So many people won’t understand this and will say: “You should just be thankful!” However, unless you’ve walked the path of infertility and have been told that you will never conceive naturally, you have no clue the emotions that come with this experience. I’ve had numerous people tell me to take infertility out of my bio, and to be honest, it makes me angry. It makes me angry because it minimizes everything we’ve went through these past 7 years. I may not have answers to HOW we managed to get pregnant (because we didn’t do anything differently), but I do remember what it was like month after month never seeing a positive pregnancy test (until this one). I remember FINALLY accepting the thought of never experiencing pregnancy. I remember the day we brought Abriel home and instantly I knew that pregnancy no longer defined me. My inability to get pregnant didn’t make me any less of a mom and I no longer NEEDED a baby inside of me to feel a sense of worth. As much as I’ve loved sharing my pregnancy journey with you all, it’s been a bittersweet experience accompanied by a lot of emotions, judgement, and feelings of not fitting in. And now as we eagerly await the arrival of our miracle baby girl, I find myself wishing that I embraced this pregnancy a little bit more and with a little more grace. Because even though you’ve been on both sides of the fence, IT’S OK to let yourself enjoy whatever new season you’re in.
