Just because i dont fit into the very narrow box in your mind of what an autistic person is supposed to look like, doesn’t make me any less autistic 🫶🏼 Signs that made me seek an autism assessment: 1. cannot regulate or focus without stimming 2. Hard time changing plans/expectations 3. intense sensory experiences (lights, sounds, clothing, etc) 4. shutdowns after social interactions 5. special interests & hyperfixations (need to know everything, can’t talk about anything else) 6. intense need to plan & prepare (ex: practice conversations, studied for middle school) 7. masking & hyper awareness of my behavior in social interactions (eye contact) 8. repeat phrases from tv shows & movies 9. take everything literally 10. always felt different If you resonate with what i’m sharing I’d recommend taking the RAADS-R test in embrace autism’s site to get an understanding of how you’d score. #autism #emilieleyes #MentalHealth #neurodivergent #autistic #actuallyautistic #audhd #autisticadult #autismawareness

I thought I was just severely depressed but then as I learned more about autism after we stopped RV life, it sparked my suspicions that sent me into a rabbit hole of research & assessments that lead to me getting my referral for an autism assessment through my therapist I had been seeing for 6 months.
