Cinema trips with little ones It can be done relatively stress-free with some adjustments! 😅 When Oscar was a baby I used to go to these mum mornings @everymancinemabristol where you could literally take the pushchair in and with a well-timed nap, I still got to enjoy going to the cinema. But fast forward a few months when he dropped that morning nap, I never thought it would be possible again. Talk about short attention-span, how could he possible sit still for the length of a whole film? I learnt a few key tips pretty early on and cinema trips have been some of our favourite family activities ever since. Here’s my top tips: 1. I didn’t mention in the voiceover as it was so short but if we’re going to the cinema, the kids don’t have any screen time in the morning beforehand (they would usually have a little after breakfast) but usually it strategically means they’re more likely to be engaged for the film. 2. Prebook tickets online to save money & whilst you’re at it, check the film length, deduct it from the stated end time to determine how long the trailers will be and walk in 2-3 mins beforehand so the kids aren’t sat down for longer than they have to be. Personal preference: where do you like to sit at the cinema? I always book the front row right by the exit so our view isn’t blocked in any way & we can make a quick escape (and return!) if needs be. 3. Make sure they get a good run around before you go into the cinema. This is a must for us if it’s our first activity of the day and the kids haven’t burned off any energy yet. 4. Pee right before you go in. This sounds so obvious but even if they only went before you left home, do it again. 5. And don’t take ‘appealing’ drinks (you know what I mean) in with you so they get downed in 2 mins then they’re asking to go to the toilet… again. 6. I know it’s a treat to go to the cinema so fun food naturally comes with that but just consider the sugar intake if you’re expecting your little one to then remain in their seat for the next 90 minutes. We will occasionally get cinema snacks but this has only been more recently as the boys are getting older. #mumhack #parentingtips #toddlermum #cinema
