Coating a rather belled lidded jar in a thick layer of white crackle glaze. I begin by pouring some glaze into the footwell and before it sets, I plunge the vessel into the bucket, making sure it’s empty enough that the glaze displaced doesn’t overflow. This can be a rather tricky thing to judge, but I’ve only had a few bad accidents and, in all cases, the bucket itself is placed inside another bucket, this way no glaze is wasted, nor does it cascade all over the floor. Once the form is coated, the lid too, the two parts need to be tidied up with a paring knife, my fingers and a sponge. Throughout this entire process I collect the excess glaze dust that falls onto the table and I eventually place it into a basin of glaze that after some months of collection, I’ll sieve it back into the larger container. The lid is then propped up using wadding. A mixture made from 50% kaolin, (EPK in this case, but I’m not sure it matters), and 50% coarse alumina hydrate. I wedge it to a clay like consistency and press them onto the wax underneath the lid, which surprisingly holds them in place really well. It’s delicately placed atop the jar and now, finally, it’s ready to be reduction fired. #glazing #vessel #howto #pottery #craft #maker

Made a big mistake when assembling the bed base. Got my @Blaklader Workwear knee pads in and was happily gluing and putting in dowels and then it dawned on my that I messed up in the order of assembly and luckily the @Titebond Products glue hades set and I could pull, rip, break two dowels out and quickly assemble in the right order #woodworking #maker #joinery

This is stage 1 of the new work truck build! With the shop and home build coming up it was time to get into a bigger truck and I decided to go with a Ram 3500 from @bridgecitychrysler 👍 I went with a Ram because I’ve been a fan of the products @aevconversions makes for the Ram trucks which helped with part of the overall picture of what I want to build. First stage was just to get the AEV lift in and some 37” @yokohamatire with some @blackrhinowheels . Max from @bridgecitychrysler was so helpful in locating and bringing in this specific truck for me and helping order all the parts and getting this stage done. Ryan was the mechanic and this guy is amazing! He’s been at the dealership for 23 years and it was a treat to watch this guy work! So quick and efficient and made sure everything was perfect before passing it off to me to take home. Many of the parts for the next two stages of the build are here and some are still on their way and once they’re here we will be back to Bridge City to do more work on the truck #worktruck #woodwork #maker
