These hacks will turn you into a self-made TOP STUDENT ✅🏆👩🏼‍🎓💯 - THE HACKS: 1️⃣ SQ3R - this is one of the best ways to learn from any written resources (e.g. textbooks, articles, websites). The steps include Survey, Question, Read, Recite, and Review (you can find a full explanation on my YT channel). In brief, you create a set of questions that you then answer when reading through the text to make it more engaging and memorable 🤓 . 2️⃣ Mind-Mapping - write a mind-map of all the information from your notes, textbook and any other resources. Link key ideas, expand on concepts you need/want to know more about. This is a great way to learn theory for Chemistry, as often many concepts are interlinked, and better represented through mind-maps than linear notes . 3️⃣ Study Groups - meet up with 3-4 classmates every week. Assign each other a topic to teach the others, and try to come up with some practice exam questions for each of your topics which you can then test each other on. These skills are SO important for student wellbeing ✅🧠👩🏼‍🎓💯 - 1️⃣ Pomodoro Technique - Study for 25min, then rest for 5 mins. Repeat x4 then take a longer 10-20min break. This is an insanely effective way to stay focused & efficient, so you can get more work done in less time, leaving more time for self care! The regular breaks also allow your brain to rest & absorb the information⏳ . 2️⃣ Active Study - these are study methods that force you to engage with the content, doing some sort of physical or mental process. 🤓 It leads to greater retention of info, understanding, and ability to apply theory! Also allowing you to learn SO MUCH MORE in MUCH LESS time. ✅ . Examples include: 🧠 Active Recall (e.g. Flashcards, Blurting, Application Questions) 🧠 Mind-Maps & Drawing Diagrams 🧠 Teaching The Material to Others 🧠 Loci Method 🧠 Practice Exams . 3️⃣ Prioritise Sleep - sleep is honestly king when it comes to mental health. If you feel guilty, don’t! Adequate sleep will actually help you be more productive during the day, and it’s also during sleep when your brain actually consolidated what you’ve learnt that day to long-term memory and forms links with other into you’ve learn. So it’s almost as if you GAIN your time back 😴 . 4️⃣ Time-Blocking - set a certain, finite amount of time for each task you need to do. As they say, a task expands to fit the time allocated, so if you give yourself the whole day to do something, even if it’s small, it WILL drag out to the whole day.
