Here are simple, straightforward, helpful tips for a healthy Ramadan:🙌🏼 Suhoor: 1. Don't skip Suhoor! 2. Prepare meals in advance to avoid hustle of waking up early 2. Aim to have balanced meal with complex carbs , protein (at least 20g), vegetables and some healthy fat as these take longer to digest and thus help to sustain energy levels longer. 3. Smoothies are great idea if you have low appetite but ensure they contain sufficient nutrients and low sugar content. 4. Avoid spicy, sour, fried foods and caffeine (coffee, tea, chocolate, soda drinks) as they can trigger symptoms of gastric irritation 5. Limit salt, condiments as sodium increase thirst Iftar 1. Break the fast with water and fast-digesting food like 1-3 dates, or banana to replenish energy 2. For main meal at Iftar : try to include all food groups to ensure adequate nutrition : whole grains, fruits and vegetables, lean protein (legumes / egg/ fish/ poultry) to 4. Slow down, don't over eat 5. Consume as much fluid as possible between Iftar and Suhoor, including juices, milk and soups to maintain hydration level Exercise 1. Continue to move and exercise for overall health and well-being - pay attention to how your body's signals and start with light activities 2. Exercise before Iftar OR after light snack at Iftar so that you get to replenish right after exercising Sleep 1. Try getting 7-9hours of total sleep including naps 2.
