After reading the comments on @The ER Vet Tech’s IG post, I was shocked to find members of the human side of healthcare speaking so condescendingly towards our field. Vet techs perform the same exact procedures as human nurses, yet get very little recognition, and work for a fraction of the pay. When viewing an ultrasound, the differences in shades are due to how the ultrasound waves travel through different densities. Dental disease is one of the most common medical issues affecting pet rabbits. 🐇🦷 Unlike our teeth, a rabbit’s teeth continuously grow throughout its life. This can lead to overgrown teeth if the teeth are not worn down properly. The underlying cause of overgrown teeth can vary - it may be due to poor diet, trauma, or even poor genetics, which is the cause of this 1 year old rabbit, who had mal-aligned teeth from the start. Not all dental disease is this obvious- sometimes the front teeth are ok, but the back, or cheek teeth, are overgrown. Signs that your rabbit may have dental disease include weight loss, difficulty eating, changes in feces, drooling or wetness around the chin, and facial masses or swellings. ***This rabbit is up for adoption! *** If you know anyone in the DFW area that is interested, please reach out to me. Momo, one of the heaviest cats I’ve ever worked with, suffered from a life-threatening issue called obstipation and megacolon.
