I NEEDED to go to art school 👇 . . Let me start off by saying, you DO NOT need art school to be successful in the art and animation industry. Art school in the U.S. is extremely expensive and is not in the cards for everyone, which is why I frequently share free and lower cost alternatives on my page. But I personally would not be where I am today without it. . . When you’re paying for art school, your tuition isn’t really going towards your classes. You can get most, if not all, of the same knowledge online. What you’re paying for is: ✏️ A built in network made of classmates, professors, and industry professionals ✏️ access to industry standard software and equipment to practice with ✏️ a place to experiment, build a portfolio, and make mistakes without the worry of getting fired from a real job ✏️ Access to internships that required you to be working towards a degree to be eligible . . As someone had no network, no idea where to start, and no one to ask my questions to, art school provided me with a platform for all of this. . . I would NOT recommend art school for everybody, but, for me, it was a crucial step in becoming the artist I am today. Going to art school is a deeply personal decision thats going to vary for everyone based on their needs and situation. But I wanted to share some of the benefits if you’re deciding if it’s right for you. . . #artschool #artstudent #artstudentstruggles #digitalart #digitalartist
Marketing is the bane of my existence but it is so important if you want to work as a professional artist . . If you’re interested in marketing yourself through social media, here’s some tips . . 🎨Create a brand - develop a unique and recognizable aesthetic with a consistent username/logo across platforms . 🎨Utilize multiple platforms - be present on as may social platforms as you can reasonably handle (don’t start them all at once, start with one or two and work up from there) and adapt and reuse your content for each platform . 🎨Post regularly - establish a consistent posting schedule that works for you. Batch make content and schedule posts to help ease posting consistently. . 🎨Collaborate with other artists - engage in collaborations, art challenges, and art exchanges to cross-promote each other’s work . 🎨Learn from analytics - study your analytics to understand what content performs best and how you should adjust your strategy . . . These tips are mainly for people interested in growing a following and business on social media. If you want to keep art as a hobby, you do not need to follow any of these! Remember, growing your business and marketing yourself is HARD WORK and doing art for fun is always valid. . . #arttips #arttutorial #freelanceartist #freelanceanimator #illustration
