Lambing then is the easy part, keeping lambs alive is where the real hard work is! And the nursery is always full on #lambing #lambs #sheep #farming #farmlife #laughingstock
I wondered why it had gone so slack so soon… now it’s not needed, I feel bad taking their play area away 🤷🏼♀️🙄😂 #lambs #lambing #sheep #farming #farmlife #laughingstock
She needed help her 1st & 2nd year, and so every year since she’s seemed to expect it 🤷🏼♀️😂 this was her last year lambing, she’ll be living pet life with me next year… if she doesnt ditch me & jump the fence again to get a boyfriend that is 🙄🫣😂 #lambs #lambing #sheep #farming #farmlife #laughingstock
Replying to @Crystal 🐦 In the video you’ve commented, they were separated forever, as she would have killed it if left in any longer… somtimes they do try killing off the weaker, smaller or harder to rear one. But most of the time theyre happy rearing all 3 but once we step in the milk demand has increased and eother the lambs are starting to suffer or the moms seem grateful / not bothered we’ve taken one #lambs #lambing #sheep #farming #farmlife #laughingstock
Sheep spend their lives trying to unalive themselves or escape… and this starts from the moment they are born #lambs #lambing #sheep #farming #farmlife #laughingstock
Replying to @Andyyyyyyyy 📍🍍 There are almost 1100 sheep to lamb: Ewes keep maximum of 2 lambs on them & scanned 222% Ewes lambs keep 1 lamb on them and scanned 126%. So any triplet or quads have lambs taken off them as well as ewe lamb doubles. Then there’s failed grafts/adoptions, mastitis resulting in 1/4 (only 1 working teat, so only 1 lamb for the ewe), wrong/weak lambs that won’t survive outside, lambs not thriving on mom, cold/weak lambs bought back in from outside, and sometimes the odd farmer friends cades that dont have the set up or man power to cope. #sheep #lambs #lambing #farming #farmlife #laughingstock
Replying to @krispykobitzsch we lamb approx 40 a day during the peak 3 weeks, and work on rows that are ready to turn out. Normally works out 1 triplet row and 2 double rows a day. As we turn out, anything not looking well enough will stay in and be moved to a newer row or into one of our ‘hospital’ pens at the front. This year. We’ve tied green gloves to any pen that needs help suckling / feeding. Anything else gets written on the white board #sheep #lambs #lambing #farming #farmlife #laughingstock
She’s not been like this before!… and still is yet to lamb! Too stressed to find the lambs she hasn’t had, than to go into labour herself!🙄 #lambs #lambing #sheep #farming #farmlife #laughingstock
For those offended by me ‘dragging’ the ewe… I was ‘tipping’ her which is how you sit a sheep on it’s bum. However, weighing 110kg in a small pen, with her lambs around her, and physical exhaustion and sleep deprivation, it’s not that easy to do 🥴🥵😂. #lambs #lambing #sheep #farming #farmlife #laughingstock
Unfortunately, where there’s life, there is death, and so with livestock, there’s deadstock. She’s gutted! As am i… but in 6 years of lambing, this is only the 2nd lamb I’ve lost whilst still with their mom #lambs #lambing #laughingstock #sheep #farming #farmlife
Replying to @peak_yt2412 you can tell I’m not a real farmer as I’ve had a day off today!… first in a few weeks, but still! 😂 There’s no days off for farmers #sheep #lambs #lambing #farming #farmlife #laughingstock
The ewe will be going to the abattoir as unable to rear a lamb. With this terrible weather and dreadful conditions, we need as few feet on the ground as possible, so anything not rearing lambs, needs to go asap. A sad end, but the lambs will thrive on the bottle if we don’t have a single lamb to adopt them soon #lambs #lambing #sheep #farming #farmlife #laughingstock
This is a big moment when they move down to the nursery… the end is in sight, sleep is seeming closer, and less trekking between sheds to check! Roll on some sunshine and enjoyable moments out in the fields! #lambs #lambing #sheep #farming #farmlife #laughingstock
Lamb stealers are a HUGE pain in the backside, especially if they’re not quite ready to lamb themselves #lambs #lambing #sheep #farming #farmlife #laughingstock
