#ad For game days, you can't have gatherings without queso. My go-to queso is Velveeta and RO*TEL Original Diced Tomatoes and Green Chilies. It's quick and easy to make and combines creamy cheesiness with a little spice. Perfect for me and my family and friends. Make sure to add this to your game day snack essentials! #gameday

In order to show up the best you have to take care of yourself so you can take care of those around you. This is something I’ve always understood and it’s something I want my wife to implement as well. It took time for us to make this a consistent thing every week, but we found out how to prioritize it. Now that it’s a part of our weekly routine, we can see how this helps her wear all the hats she is wearing and show up in those roles how she would like to every week.

I’m not willing to wait to know if I am a good husband and dad for my family, so I periodically ask them how I am performing. I believe having a mark of measurement is always good, especially if you’re willing to do the work to improve. There is no better team to improve for than your family. 🥞 Dry: - 2 cups all-purpose flour - 5 tsp baking powder - 1 tsp salt - 2 tsp cinnamon sugar (1:4 ratio) - 3 tsp granulated sugar Wet: - 1 tsp vanilla extract - 4 tbsp melted butter - 1 lemon juice and zest - 2 eggs - 2 cups whole milk

When I step into my wife’s world, I always try to better understand her and try to do this as often as possible. I used to think there weren’t many practical ways to do this until I started thinking outside the box and paying attention to things she did where I could step up for her. There were times when I learned something, and there were times when I didn’t, but it was the act of trying that allowed me to understand her more, and that’s all that matters. Growing in empathy means putting yourself out there in ways you haven’t before, and I’m telling you from experience that it’s worth it.

I used to overly focus on my wife’s precise words rather than trying to understand what she needed from me. I realized this approach wasn’t helping and needed to change my mindset. Over the years, I’ve learned it’s best to meet my wife where she is and support her in that moment. This often means I have to read between the lines rather than taking her statements at face value, especially when her words don’t seem to match her underlying needs. The truth is that we all communicate this way. Accepting this fact of communication has allowed me to better empathize with my wife and serve her verbal and nonverbal needs. It’s not easy, and it can sometimes be unclear. Hopefully, over time, we can communicate our needs, wishes, and desires in a way we can understand.

It’s easy to love when life is in order, but it’s difficult to love when life is chaotic. When you teach yourself to Love Where You’re At it gives the people around you the opportunity to see that you can love in all circumstances.

Getting up at 5-6 AM has been standard for me most of my life with football. I didn't enjoy it back then - I did it because it was required. These days I'm up at 4:15 AM (and still get 7-8 hours of sleep most nights). I'm choosing to use those early hours to serve my family and take care of myself. Depending on what my family needs each season, the tasks change. Right now, I recognize my wife’s mornings are more chaotic, so I've taken on more to simplify her routine. She didn't ask me to do this; I saw an opportunity to serve and took it. I decided to act by owning 80% of the morning duties, which allows her to easily shift into work mode and hopefully get more sleep. As the seasons change, my aim is to continually re-evaluate and adjust - whether it's managing the kids or household tasks or taking on more duties. I don’t enjoy getting up at 4:15, but I welcome the early wake-up as calm time to ready myself for the day and contribute through basic acts for my wife and kids. I do this not because I'm asked but because I believe my job is to evaluate and adjust unconditionally without strings attached.
