I always love imagining someone’s face… When I meet new people hearing their voice makes me think about what someone looks like. Sometimes I’m completely wrong but quite a lot of the time I’m accurate!! It’s so interesting to me what you can deduce from verbal communication. I believe my blindness has given me the gift to see people for their true cells. I am blessed that I don’t have to judge the world with its physical appearance. I really want to see the Bob Marley movie as I know it’s recently come out and Bob Marley’s music really reminds me of my lovely sister. I have seen Bob in photos but because I lost my sight almost 11 years ago, now the memory of him has faded and I can’t remember what he looks like. I gave it a good go and we even made AI make an image from my description!! Do you think it looks anything like Bob?? Who do you want me to do next in this series? #OneLove #BobMarley #OneLoveOneHeart #BobMarleyMovie #StableDiffusion

Myself and my publisher are hosting a competition for you to win a Canon R50 - the follow up to the G7X, the camera I used when I first started my social media channels! So to be in with a chance to win, preorder my book and head over to the link in my bio I hope whoever wins this camera finds their voice again with it, just like I did #MentalHealth #BlindNotBroken #SelfHelp #SelfHelpBooks #GriefJourney

Share this if you have any brides-to-be in your life ❤️ This is what happened when I decided I wanted a tactile memory to remember my wedding bouquet by… We went two days after our wedding to a lovely artist named Rachel Dein. We met her back in 2021 when we went to the Chelsea Flower Show to see the sensory garden Exhibit with @GuideDogsUK. We approached her stand and fell in love with all of her tactile artwork. I knew in that moment that I wanted a special piece from her and felt like it was the perfect opportunity to invest to remember the day I married my soulmate. Honestly, the way Rachel does it is so fascinating and we even had a long chat with her at her house and met her husband and kids. It was such a sweet day and one we will remember forever. We got the artwork back this week and cannot wait to hang it on the wall. Audio description of the piece: Preface: I, Ollie, am not a florist so sorry if I’m not the best here! The piece is a 40cm by 40cm relief of flowers. From left to right we have bunny tails - a fluffy grass, stocks, something that’s similar to wheat (florists - help!), an olive branch, eucalyptus with a thin plant with saw bladed leaves over the top, scabias - a crispy ball style plant, eucalyptus again, roses pressed from the side and a huge branch of eucalyptus all overhead. Anniversaries of grief are always hard… Today marks 11 years since my eyes looked at this beautiful world for the last time. Time feels like it’s flown by but in some ways the moment that it happened feels like yesterday. Grief doesn’t swallow me whole like it used to. As you guys know, I love being blind, I’ve worked hard to be able to say that sentence but I’m so proud of my journey. I love my sense of self now but I clear my calendar every anniversary to make sure I take some time for myself to remember the day that changed my life forever. All of the good and all of the bad because I am blessed. I allow myself to grieve what sighted lucy thought I would become and celebrate the confident kick ass blind woman I am now. Grief is so complicated but to all of you that are also grieving like me today I hope my words comfort you, even if it’s just in a small way. Also, it’s very fitting that my book Blind Not Broken is out in a few days time jampacked full of exercises and things to help you out on your journey. Along with the parts of my grief story that I’ve never chatted about online that have been too painful to tell before. So if you are able it would be so so amazing if you pre-ordered or shared this video. I count my lucky stars every day that I have you guys to share my journey with. As I have not as many spoons as usual I decided to do a makeup look with no tools. Thought this may help you if you’re low energy/chronic pain too. These are the products that I thought worked best with just my hands. *for gifted @Authentic Beauty Concept enhancing water* @VIEVE skin nova primer @Hourglass Cosmetics vanish stick foundation shade 4.5 @NARS Cosmetics radiant creamy concealer in shade vanilla @Huda Beauty easy bake mini pink blossom @Benefit Cosmetics UK benetint* @urban decay naked foxy palette* Nars power matte lipstick in free bird* @milkmakeup kush waterproof mascara Benefit gimme brow volumising pencil in 2.75* Sam McKnight barely there texture mist @Pantene Pro-V perfect volume hair spray* #grief #makeup #selfHelp #sadness #itsok

It’s so sad that this is our reality… I never wanted to have to do this, but being a disabled woman with a guide dog trying to access the transport network in London can be so frustrating. I happened to be with my sighted husband who could help us on the escalator. It wasn’t ideal, but we also knew that it was rush-hour and it would have been unlikely that they would have stopped the escalators so we could walk down because of the the amount of people and sometimes it can be the only option we have. The reason that I’m posting this is to raise awareness that myself as a blind person cannot travel with my mobility aid independently because our transport system is flawed. @GuideDogsUK are the most supportive charity but because I don’t work Miss Molly in London all the time it’s not beneficial for me to have an escalator trained dog over someone who works full-time in the city. I really would love to raise more awareness because millions of journeys are done each year with guide dog owners and wheelchair users that take so much more time, effort and energy because there are only a handful of step free access stations. Miss Molly is a happy, healthy dog, and I don’t know what I would do without her as my eyes!! She’s my everything Video description: The video starts with Lucy tripping up gripping Ollie’s shoulder as she gets off an escalator. He was unable to guide her through hand signals as she was pressing so hard. It then cuts to Lucy standing next to a board that says ‘no step free access’ then Ollie picks up Molly, who remains very chill, and goes down the escalator with Lucy stroking her head. The video ends with Molly guiding Lucy up some stairs lower down in the station. #Accessibility #TheTube #GuideDog

I’m blind, let’s Zac Efron just from his voice! And ask AI to make a picture! In my mind I’m still seeing him as Troy in High School Musical so this was really interesting for me to describe how he looks now, especially as he’s changed so much over the past decade and also now for his new film Iron Claw. Who would you want me to describe next? I love doing this series! #IronClaw #ZacEfron #Celebrity #Blind @British blind girl 👁🦮👩‍🦯

When I was a little girl, I got bullied a lot about my teeth… I was always vampire girl at school. This meant I kind of developed quite an insecurity about how I only had 22 teeth because of my eyesight condition, Incontinentia Pigmenti, rather than 32! This led me to find out about how I could get some @invisalign and a tooth put in. *this whole experience was gifted to me for my wedding by my dentist so I paid nothing* As you guys probably know, I absolutely adore Glasgow and one day I’m sure me and Ollie will live there. Well over a year ago now we met the lovely @Vic_halliday, and she works with @Queens Drive Dental Practice to transform so many smiles, including mine for my wedding! Honestly, I cannot speak highly enough about the treatment I received. Olivia and JP took the time to really listen to me and talk about both of their new little babies. They went above and beyond and I genuinely feel lucky to have met them all. You made a profound impact on my life and I will never forget how you changed my smile. I also had teeth whitening and so did Ollie for our wedding day… We absolutely adore how the photos and videos came out, and this is partly because of Queens Drive! Of course, you don’t necessarily need any of this done to have a beautiful wedding day but it was something that I had been thinking about for years and years anyway, so I’m really lucky that I met some beautiful people along the way. And hand on heart, I know I have a really high pain tolerance… You guys know, I’m weird… But it really was pain-free, when JP was inserting my new tooth!! I look so funny in these clips according to Ollie hehe 2023 was a rollercoaster, but I married my soulmate, and the whole day felt like I was in Love Actually playing the main part! I never thought life could be a movie, but it really was when I became Mrs Edwards-Cave #Bride #BrideToBe #Wedding

Guiding my blind wife through central London with lots of luggage 😱 This is the reality of our journey! Audio description: Ollie and Lucy make their way through the tube - Ollie is wheeling along 2 hard suitcases - one 23kg and the other 27kg. On the top is a gold paper shopping bag. Lucy has her cane with her and holds on to the strap of Ollie’s bag with her other hand. Often Lucy has to let go of Ollie so he can lift the cases over gaps between the train and platform or stairs. Various people help out throughout. Also for context this was straight after a 10 hour flight. #London #TheTube #BlindTravel #accessible #LondonTravel

Feeding a blind penguin as a blind person 🐧🐧 @Birdworld AD: Lucy sits on a log stump in the African Penguin enclosure. There are 52 small, around 2ft tall, penguins with her. There is wet sand below Lucy’s feet, lots of little penguin huts are in front of her and a mini lake is to her right. The penguins intermittently come over to her and the keeper throughout the video. At the end when you hear the honking noise, that’s a penguin and all the other penguins rush towards the sound. #Penguin #HappyFeet #Blind #nature #animals

I’m blind and I tried acupuncture for the first time! I’m in my comfies today as I’m having a treatment with my bestie Connie! I tried acupuncture for the first time. I thought it would help me with my migraines as a lot of people rave about this. Did you know that migraines affect 10% of people worldwide? And it’s more prominent for women? I don’t know about you guys but if I have an eye pain migraine it throws me out of whack for the whole day and it’s so debilitating. As I had Botox back in July the effect of it has ran out and I’ve been getting a lot more pain for the past few weeks so I thought before I went back to get more I would try acupuncture for the first time. I know it’s not a traditional pain management treatment with western medicine, but I’m honestly willing to give everything a try and have an open mind so I wanted to show you and film my very first experience. It was a really positive one and I’m definitely getting again. #acupuncture #painManagement #migraineRelief #migraine #migraineReliefTok

AD Imagine a world where all the labels in the supermarket were blank. You couldn’t distinguish between a can of beans and a can of soup until it was too late and you now have vegetable soup on toast for breakfast. That is my world as a blind woman in 2024. And that’s just a silly example. For many people it can be life threatening if they accidentally pick up something that contains an allergen. That is why I am campaigning with @Roland DG Europe - experts in digital printing - ahead of World Braille Day (4th Jan) to fight for the importance of accessible packaging - because everyone has the right to know what they're buying. Braille can only cover so much on a tin so they are also encouraging brands to place interactive, blind friendly codes on each packet too (QR codes)! So please #GiveItToRoland #WorldBrailleDay

I was so nervous about meeting an Emu completely blind 😱 Thanks for inviting me @Birdworld Forest description: Forest is a bit of an odd looking bird. He’s huge, almost as high as my waist, he has massive eyes that are red in colour on the side of his head. He sort of resembles an Ostrich’s ugly cousin. He has a long neck which is black and his body is a dark grey brown colour. He has long, gangly legs. #Emu #Zoo #AnimalLover Do you think he was cute?

This is my anti anxiety sensory routine as a blind woman ❤️ Whenever I’m feeling overwhelmed or overloaded I come to my bedroom. My psychologist termed it ‘My Pleasant Place’. Even when I’m not physically in my bedroom I go here in my mind when I’m feeling anxious and it helps my mental health so much ❤️ This is such a personal video for me to film and I really hopes this helps you in your mental health journey and gives you some inspiration for you to come up with a pleasant place of your own. What can you hear, smell, touch and taste when you’re in your pleasant place? This is my favourite place on the planet ❤️ Rose Oud and the Oudgasm burner were sent as PR by @Kayali. Thank you so much because they have become some of my most calming scents. #PleasantPlace #HappyPlace #Happiness #MentalHealth #AntiAnxiety

This is such a useful command that Miss Molly does. Putting her front two paws on the first step as soon as I say ‘step stand’ and waiting for me and my foot to reach that step that she’s on before she goes. It’s so great when I’m navigating the busy streets of London. Especially when we are on our way down to the tube line. She’s such a beautiful girl and so many people ask me how I navigate stairs as a blind person and this is how me and my guide dog do it. She’s such a clever girl! When we are at the top of the steps, she waits and pauses until her next command, so she knows where to go and knows she has told me that there are no more stairs so we can go on our way. Audio description: Lucy stands at the bottom of the stairs with her golden retriever guide dog Molly. Molly has her front two paws on the first step. When Lucy says forwards the go up the stairs, getting to a wider step (which we refer to as a ‘middle’ when sight guiding - that’s not a standard term by the way, just what we call it as a family). At this wider step Molly waits with her front paws on the middle. Lucy says good girl and they repeat the process for the second batch of steps before exiting the tube station. #GuideDog #ServiceDog #Blind #London
