I’ve never had a fish be so negatively affected by breeding. I get random fish spawning in my tanks on a weekly basis but never had it resulted in the death of one of the females but I guess there’s a first for everything. I found out Mr. Clean first had severe dropsy on December 29th, and it’s now been almost 11 weeks since then and his overall condition has actually begun to improve. This is the longest I’ve had a goldfish successfully recover from dropsy with seamingly no long term side effects. Now I do still have his water salted, and I’m afraid to take the salt away, I think I’m gonna lower the salt added very slightly with every water change and see how he does. #fish #goldfish #mrclean #aquarium

Some people disagree with this method of bacteria seeding because it may temporarily increase ammonia levels due to waste introduction from the old filter, but with some ammonia detoxifying conditioner and a solid day for the sediment to cycle through I’ve found the tank gets established very quickly after doing this. #fish #goldfish #aquarium #ranchu
