I Turned Plastic Water Bottles Into 3D Printer Filament | The Full Journey | 🖨️💦🐢 It took me 3 months, but I successfully turned plastic water bottles into filament for my 3D printer. This journey was more difficult that I originally anticipated. It came equipped with a ton of trial and ERROR moments, and many trials and tribulations until I actually made filament from plastic. This is the most epic form of recycling, and probably the coolest thing I have ever done in my life. The full version can be found on my YouTube, Snapchat, and/or Facebook page! So, please enjoy this journey, comment what I should print first, and let me know if you have any questions, as I am happy to answer and assist in your filament maker journey. Thank you so much for being part of this process. Thank you for believing in me, for supporting me, and for enjoying the journey along the way. I’ve got big ideas for what we’ll do with all these water bottles…..so if you’ve got any big ideas too, just comment or DM me!! This is definitely something you can do at home, and I am excited to see how many of us we can get to the ultimate level of sustainability. Thank you so much again for watching my channel this week. I love you so much. I Turned A Plastic Water Bottle Into A 3D Print (finally!)🖨️ I figured out (almost perfectly) the temperature, flow rate and speed settings on my 3D printer so that we can finally print from water bottles-turned-filament. Infill 20%. Speed 60%. Bed temp: 70. Nozzle temp: 245. Fan: 100%. Now I need to figure out how to: (1) Find the sweet spot temp for my nozzle so the plastic doesn’t melt before a print completes (I’ll try printing at 250, and then 255). (2) Find sweet spot fan speed to cool plastic filament as it prints (I’ll try increasing my fan speed to cool the filament down as it extrudes through the nozzle). (3) Fix my mechanical pulley so it does not get stuck when pulling filament through my Petamentor machine. (4) Find a way to attach plastic filament to my Petamentor pulley more seamlessly. (5) Optimize water bottle cutter with bearings to automate the process of cutting the bottles to self-direct to the nozzle. (6) FUTURE GOAL: Find a way to automate cutting water bottles and self-directing the strips straight into my 3D printer nozzle to become an all-in-one plastic filament-to-prints machine. This is progress to me. And it’s exciting. Thanks for staying with me along the way. I love you literally so much. Let’s save the turtles 💚 #howtowithjessie #plastic #waste #Sustainability #turtles #earth #mother

Will You Still Eat Figs After Watching This?…18 month update 🐝 Some Figs Have Dead Wasps Inside Of Them Figs are pollinated by female wasps, and they’re not actually fruits but inverted flowers - so wasps crawl inside, lay eggs and fertilizes the flowers with pollen from other figs. The wasp eggs hatch into larvae and they feed on the interior of the fig before pupating and exiting the fig as adult wasps. I had no hope for my fig seeds but that’s clearly not the truth bc i kept these seeds for two years. and last week i opened my fig seeds to see some of the seeds sprouted. so i planted them in soil. Now it is worth mentioning that not all figs contain wasp larvae, especially those sold in the grocery store because they aren’t pollinated the same way. Even when a fig does contain wasp eggs or larvae, they are so small and microscopic that they are typically digested along with the rest of the fig's flesh when it is eaten. So, while the idea of wasps inside a fig might sound strange or unappetizing, it's actually a natural part of the fig's life cycle and doesn't usually have any impact on the fig's taste or nutritional value. I Made A Shrimp Biosphere So I Could Hatch Their Babies 🦐 I initially went to the aquarium with the intention of pimping my sea monkey tank, but somehow ended up leaving with 7 shrimp – 1 neon yellow, 3 cherry red, 1 blue velvet, and 2 amano shrimps. Now, my mission is to keep them alive and create an all-natural biosphere using the Walstad method to potentially hatch hundreds of their babies. Breeding proves challenging since shrimps require perfect conditions and a male for mating. After snagging a fish tank from Value Village, I divided it into enclosures for the amanos and the rest. Unhappy with the plastic plants, I delved into the Walstad method, researched what I needed, and hurriedly returned to the store for live plants, almond leaves, shrimp substrate, algae disk snacks, and chola wood. Back home, I conditioned and dechlorinated the water, conducted a pH test, and introduced my shrimpys. Excitingly, they not only survived but are thriving in their amazing, all-natural home – stay tuned for a showcase in tomorrow's video, with a long-form video dropping on Friday! #howtowithjessie #shrimp #walstadmethod #ecosystem #natural

Is This Really The Most Viral Triple Sauce On The Internet? This sauce is comprised of 3 ingredients: PESTO, RED SAUCE, and ALFREDO. I went to see how it’s made….from fresh basil to pine nuts in the pesto, to fresh homegrown tomatoes in the red sauce, to parmesan and parsley in the white sauce…was it worth the hype? And maybe…just maybe… there were some tomato seeds that I grew into new tomatoes from the sauce. Let me know if you end up trying this sauce out at the St. Lawrence Market in Toronto.
