I love finding one of a kind items for my home at small shops! Here are some of my finds recently at my favourite shops and how I styled them. I’ve used the vintage stool in many corners of my home and popped it next to the tub just recently! I love the mix of old and new and also warm and cold materials here. I’ve admired that vintage raised board every time I’ve stopped by this shop and finally got it this summer. I put a marble tray under as a drawer. I’ll be on the look out for a bigger “drawer” in the future. But for now, this coffee nook and tea station feels more elevated. Quite literally. Haha! These wire and woven baskets are great for all the garlics and shallots we like to cook with. It’s pretty and functional! And I get to cosplay a country gal when I take my basket out into my little garden to harvest herbs. These two shops are in Elora, a beautiful and charming town. I grew up on late 90s rom-com and early 2000 music. Gilmore Girls was airing and we all wanted to live on the set of Parent Trap. Our style icon was Rachel Green and the soundtrack our lives was Norah Jones. I daydreamed of growing up, having adventures downtown, eating brunch with girlfriends and walking in 4 inch heels that miraculously don’t hurt and dressed up in fabulous outfits. I’d go back home to a house that looked like a set out of a Nancy Meyers movie and end up in the evening curled up in a big fluffy white couch with a good book and a hot cup of tea in my hand. Flash forward, I’m a full grown adult, I don’t wear 4 inch heels and I don’t own a big fluffy white couch, but I think I’m living a version of that dream. It’s wild and crazy and I don’t really know how we got here but I’m so grateful for it and I love it here. What I bought vs How I styled it ~small shop edition part II~ The candle cork was such a fun find from @anaturalhome.ca (IG) that I bought a few. I think it’s going to look spectacular for Halloween too! I know how I’m styling my kitchen shelves when spooky season is around the corner. I added to my collection of table linens and kitchen towels this summer. And I’ve been hankering after those brass salt and pepper mills for years. I actually got them for myself as a Mother’s Day gift this year. And I’m keeping an eye out for more scalloped pieces like these terracotta pots. They add such a whimsical touch to any space. And one of my favourite purchases this year were these wall baskets from @lemontree_interiors (IG) / @lemontree.home (IG). I did end up staining them a bit warmer for my red brick home but they’re hanging so beautifully as a wreath alternative now. This video looks like I’ve purchased everything on the same day but it’s actually over the course of years! Here’s how you make a tea bomb inspired by the magical @Fall state of mind 🎃👻 On medium heat, melt 1 cup of sugar 1/3 cup of corner syrup or honey 2 tbsp water Food dye if you’d like Boil till 300 degrees Pour a tbsp in your molds. Make sure to scrap the sugar up the sides of your mold. You might need to tilt your mold to get to all the crevices. Put half your tea bomb shell on low heat to melt the edges slightly and tuck you favourite tea bag in. Pop your tea bomb in a hot cup of water and enjoy your cozy tea! If you’d like to add food colouring to your tea bombs, it’s best to use corn syrup as it helps retain the colour. This method is also more shelf stable and your tea bombs can than be kept in a jar. Whereas if you choose to use honey, you’ll need to store your tea bombs in a fridge. #fallrecipes #cozyactivities #fall #hygge

We could have unalived our guests! I didn’t know how bad the state of our doors were until we took them out. Half the structure was missing due to rotting wood and carpenter ants. You can always trust Mama Kwendy to keep me humble. I tried my hand at making cheong! This is a process in Korean cuisine where you take equal parts fruit and equal part sugar to make a syrup. The sugar draws out the moisture in your fruit or veggie to create Cheong. You can use cheong anywhere you would use sugar or honey! Think teas, desserts, yogurt, cocktails and so much more!
