Caring for a cat with paresis, like my cat cappy, initially had a learning curve. With almost 6 years of caring for cappy, we have really streamlined our bedtime routine. Cappy's bedtime routine takes less than 10 minutes now. That is a similar time commitment as a dog when you put it in perspective. #advocate #paresis #disabledcat #youcandoit #cats
It's cappy o'clock ✨💗🐱 Cappy has paresis which means he does not have full feeling with certain parts of his little kitten body. Cappy needs help with his tinkles 3-4x a day. He can partially empty his bladder, but he rarely can fully empty it. The diaper helps keep messes down and Cappy's fur clean (ish). I definitely have been learning as I go, but I have been doing this for over 6 years. I'm so proud of us and how much we have grown and learned together. #youcandoit #paresis #disabledcat #routine #cappybears #caregiver
Seven years ago, Cappy was discovered paralyzed on the streets of Dubai after being hit by a car. Once discovered, he was rushed to the local clinic for care. He’s since recovered mobility but has paresis. Cappy's tail was also amputated to ensure the best chance forward. Paresis means he has partial control of certain muscle movements. Cappy is unable to fully control his bladder and bowels. I adopted cappy 6 years ago knowing this was the case. I was so excited to care for Cappy then, and I'm just as happy to care for Cappy now. I got you, Cappy. #rescuestory #disabledcat #paresis #caregiver #specialbond
Cappy was one of my many gifts of sobriety 💕 I've shared bits of my past before, but the true hero of the story is Cappy. Never underestimate the power of the animal human connection. and the bond it creates. Cappy supported my healing journey.. creating purpose, routine, even had me feeling uncomfortable feelings (but in a healthy way.. I just wasn't used to feeling emotions in general at that point lol). Cappy granted the opportunity to continue developing my compassionate spirit. This little bear helped me come out of my shell, quirks and all. Such a little kitten body, with a much bigger purpose than palpable.
Cappy's very observant paw routine as a disabled cat. Noticing small behavior changes are very important! Hadley was just melted on the floor, not bopping around like his usual. His little paw pad is inflamed. Fortunately it's just one lol. The next few weeks will be filled with little paw soaks and special shampoos. Hadley is a star and deserves all the attention lol ⭐️
Cappy's very stinky post mountain weekend routine. Rinsing away all the dirt and drama 🏔️🐻 I'm beginning to warm up to the idea of caring for Cappy and Hadley, at the same time together. Hadley waited patiently for Cappy to finish his quick rinse, then they proceeded to air dry in a group manner. Tails were wagging, churu nibbles were taking place. It was a family affair 🩵 PS we are home safe from our Smokey mountain adventures. I can't believe all the bears came to say hi!
Replying to @GlitterCritter lololol the drips in the beginning. Silly cappy. His diaper was sliding off and he was ready for his evening expression. These moments are silly and I love our little family so much. #cats #orangecat #oops
Not a day goes by without missing sweet LeLe and his memory. 11.27.22 the day i held LeLe in my arms as he took his last gasp for air. I'll never forget Cappy's face that morning, when I came home with LeLe's bag, but LeLe was not in it. You can't erase a memory like that. Our hearts will never heal fully from the devastating loss, but our hearts will learn to make room for more love to give. Little brother Hadley was just the energy match needed for Cappy. Still can't believe it's been one year. #petgrief
