#ad What’s that one thing you never get around to fixing? @Apple TV is a big fan of my DIY videos and they shared with me their new show #MastersoftheAir which has motivated me to get my military Hummer back on the road. All episodes are now streaming, and let me know what other modifications you would like to see in my daily driver. #ChrisFix #cars #DIY
The process of getting your car tinted is simple once you know what darkness of tint (88% down to 5%) and the type of tint (dyed or ceramic) you want. After that the pros take care of business making the tint process look easy. As someone who has tinted before, they make it look easier than a ChrisFix video on how to replace a transmission. The final results are definitely a big change and the heat reduction makes a huge difference. Next I need to tint my cars!! Also, don’t ask me how much this cost because when I went to pay, they said it’s on them as their contribution to the charity car! #ChrisFix
If you haven’t seen the new YouTube video, these @mayhewtools Torx bits came in handy when changing out the turbo on the charity car. I’ll throw a link in my bio so you can find them. These were sent out to me and I didn’t have a ton of use for them until all of a sudden I needed them haha. It was nice to have the low profile bit with the ability to slide a ratcheting wrench over them so I could get into really tight places where my ratchet couldn’t fit. If you have not seen the YouTube video yet, this car ended up going to a family that really needed a car. I found it through @autotempest and bought it via an @ebaymotors auction for $4k below the lot price but it did have a slight rattle in the turbo which ended up being the wastgate. This is a common problem on many cars with internal wastegates but specially for ecoboost engines. So to make sure it wouldn’t fail in the future leaving the family with an expensive repair bill, I swapped the turbo. Now the family has a bulletproof, fully maintained daily driver ready to go! #ChrisFix #MayhewToolsPartner
Thanks @Chevrolet for letting me borrow the Silverado 2500! I needed a full size truck to move my trailer, boat, and do some work around my new place. The truck is awesome and now I’m spoiled with all the cameras, heated and cooled seats, and the heads up display. Too bad I had to give it back. Now I need to fix the Hummer so I can tow again! #ChrisFix #Duramax #Chevy
I pulled off the side of the road at night and apparently down here everything is a marsh (live and learn) so I got my passenger front tire stuck in the mud… when the tow truck arrived, he pulled me backwards ripping my front valence off. I proceeded to tell him to pull me out forwards which worked and I was back on the road with a horrible scraping noise. The next day I noticed the front valence was damaged so here is a quick repair so I can drive the car until the new one arrives… I used plastic epoxy and covered my tool box in blue shop towels so I wouldn’t glue anything to my tool box. All said and done it was a 30min project and she’s good to go. I have not even installed the new one a month later because this worked so well haha. #ChrisFix #ScottShopPartner
I don’t normally get into politics but when I do, it’s something pretty much all of us can agree on! The Repair Act also known as the Right to Repair is a bill headed to congress ti make sure we as the consumer can work on our own cars. So instead of the dealership forcing you to go to them because of proprietary software, fluids, tools, repair info, etc, they need to at least give us access to the bare minimum to make it so we can fix and maintain our cars DIY or take it to a private shop. I truly believe you shouldn’t be forced to go to one place to fix your car, you should have options where you can make sure the job gets done properly and potentially even save some money. Agreed? If so check the link in my bio for info on how you can make your voice heard!!! #ChrisFix #AutoCareAssociationPartner #righttorepair
